Helen Thomas has seen administrations come and go. Since the demise of UPI, she is no longer guaranteed a question at news conferences, but she jumped in on Robert Gibbs yesterday, claiming Obama’s townhall meetings to promote healthcare and other news events are staged. Gibbs’ performance speaks for itself.

Gibbs – what a jerk.
IMHO, anyone who cuts off and disrespects Helen Thomas is not worthy of our respect.
As to the staging of questions and “town hall” – Obama’s message has allways been full of extremely carefully planned propaganda, theater and BS.
This is not the way to engage the public. This is the way to manipulate the public.
I love Helen Thomas.
LOL. I don’t think any press sec. really knows how to respond to her.
Imagine TM at 89 after covering DC for 40 years!
She’s seen it all. I don’t think anyone can pull the wool over her eyes. She is so dedicated.

HA! I’m sooooo lovin’ that, BG.
…one thing, however, Thomas is WRONG about the jab at Nico Pitney. She completely misrepresented what happened, as well as how tough the question was in the first place.
The one thing that made me incredibly uncomfortable is Obama hugging that woman saying he’d make sure something was done for her specifically, due to her health care horrors. It gave me the willies.

I think her real point was about the lack of transparency and that this admin. is almost as controlling as Bush was with the press. I get your point, though. H.T. is still a hoot.
I’m getting really sick of the whining about the Nico Pitney question. They MSM is going batshit crazy because they want to scare the administration to only dealing with the “traditional media.” Helen Thomas needs to get over herself already.
