Still here but just sad…

I haven’t deserted the TM site. I’ve actually been reading every day just to provide some levity in my life. My family and friends are shrouded in a fog of grief and saddness. Four weeks ago my nephew suffered a cerebral anuerysm. He never smoked and drank the obligatory beer at our gathrings. In other words he was one of the healthiest people I’ve ever known. He was my sons’ best friend besides being their cousin. Steve was declared clinically dead 3 days later and all life support was terminated 24 hours later. He was 40 years old, has one son, 10, and another due in July. I was his God mother and adored him. He was eating spagetti in my dining room the night before he became ill.

The family consented to donating his organs, all of them and whatever other parts of his body could be used for the good of others. As many as 50 people could benefit from this kindness, including my youngest son who will, in the next several months receive bone grafts for his leg from his cousin.

If you have never thought of organ donation, please do so today. I’ve provided a link that not only answeres questions about organ donation but gives you the organizations that are involved in this program. I hope you all have long healthy lives but life is funny. We never know what is going to happen on any given day. (If you had told me this healthy young man would be gone today I would never have believed it.) And donating is the ultimate gift that we can give.

Sadly, Steve’s father followed him 13 days later, a victim of kidney cancer.

I’ll be back posting on a regular basis but I need time to come back to the living. They say “tears are for the living.” I need to shed mine for a little while longer.

Love to you all – Jane Austen

My Nephew consented to donating whatever they could us when my sister died in Dec. and even though she had been a crack user right up to the end they were able to use her Kidney and eyes. I hope everyone uses the link you so thoughtfully provided and signs up.
