Sad Nipple Memories

As a young red-blooded male, I was one of those who had Ms. Fawcett’s poster on a wall for many years. It was the first time I could hang anything that ‘racy’ and downright sexual -- yet not have Mom yell at me. Not to be terribly politically incorrect -- but I must have glanced at those nipples 10,000 times. I know a lot of men did. That wonderful smile didn’t hurt either. Even my first wife admitted she could see why I was so mesmerized.
So to lose her -- for me -- is to lose one of THE major icons of a very long and event-filled life. And it makes me extremely sad.

Earlier, when I saw your headline, pmichael, I couldn’t imagine what the topic could possibly be. After having read the subject I have to say that it all is so perfect for those who remember Farrah. She came on the seen like a flash of crackling lightning, with every male I knew thunderstruck by her raw carnal appeal.
But it was also a real in your face feminist moment, though many women don’t feel that “sad nipple memories” equate to liberation. The marketing and advertising equivalent to Manet’s “Olympia” back in the 19th century, a woman’s direct look melding with Farrah’s physical revealing was met with the same disdain by many.
I hope she finds peace, with her Mr. O’Neal, who has much to wrestle with as he loses the love of his life.
One of my favorite actresses when I was a young was Mia Farrow. When I saw she was on a fast for Darfur, my first thought was Satan’s mom is fasting for Darfur? We better do something quick.
As her fast continues, I’ve been puzzled by the fact that President Obama seems to be ignoring her completely. Ironically, she was finishing her first week or so without food when Obama and Biden had their cheeseburger photo op.
hmmmm… You’ve really set up something to think about.
When she first started, we treated her light-heartedly at my little diary, mainly because of the Rosemary’s Baby connection, but, as she’s gone along, she’s impressed me with her sincerity. She’s been on Larry King during the fast, and I’m sure she’s had other coverage, but the White House seems to be stonewalling her. Or maybe they addressed the issue and I just missed it. It seems to me the least he could do for one of his supporters on the 12th day of a fast for Darfur is notice her.
I think part of what makes this so sad is that she was larger than life in the ’70’s and now is reduced to the ravages of cancer. I remember all the guys had that famous poster of hers on their dorm walls when I was in college. Brings back thoughts of my younger days -oh if I knew then what I know now ….
Sorry about the title, Taylor – but one thing I’ve certainly learned from the MSM — if the header doesn’t grab ya, nobody reads ya.
You’ll probably note that in the future as well with my postings – but I’m purty sure you know exactly what I mean.
Even the women liked Farrah. Aside from the sex appeal, she was charming – you know the big smile, big hair, big personality, etc. I used to watch Charlie’s Angels quite often.
Hey, pmichael, the title worked!
I *loved* “Charlie’s Angels”!
While Ms. Fawcett’s passing is indeed very sad like Gandalf said, “all tears are not an evil”
It is all part of this wonderful cycle of life that the sex symbles and heros and stars of our youth grow old and pass from the scene…as will we.
I just wish some of these horrid old and some not so old repugnantklaners would cooperate and do their part for the wonderful circle of life. Falwell did, what’s wrong with Newt and the boys?
Secular, your sentiment is seldom noted until one gets to our age. Newt ? If Obama falters (certainly hope not) – he’ll be your next president.
My GOLDFISH stands a better chance of becoming President then that bloated bag of puss.
And he/she’s qualified. Born in the US, over forty years old(in Goldfish years) and….WAIT FOR IT!!!!…been in a “school” it’s whole life!!!! Thankyou, thankyouvery much. I’ll be here till Thursday, be sure to try the Veal and don’t forget your wait staff, thankyou, thankyou Ladies and Germs. BadaBUMP!
Sorry to have to tell you this secularhumanizeinevoluter but pmichael’s joke about Newt maybe being the next Prez was at least as funny as your’s was. And who doesn’t like a good fish joke?
re: Newt – on a more serious note —
This country elected George W. Bush – Twice.
and Newt isn’t a spastic retard.
My comment was “if Obama falters”. If he does, the Repubs will quite possibly win again – and for the moment, Newt is the odds on favorite to be the candidate (though it IS a long ways away).
Laugh all you want.
RE:”re: Newt – on a more serious note —

From everything I’ve seen so far the electorate has finally seen through the repugnantklan “BE AFRAID” and Dems are “socialists” boogeyman and just ain’t buyin that line no mo. Anything can happen but it is REALLY, really hard for me to see how President Obama can POSSIBLY screw up as badly as the Bush crime syndicate.
I agree, Secular. For his 1st term, I believe Obama is almost bulletproof (that’s a euphemism, though probably not a good one)
Current 2012 odds at PaddyPower.com:
– - – Romney – 7 to 1
(and Bishop Mitt has not EVEN been exposed
yet as to his weird, nearly scientology [LDS] beliefs)
– - – Gingrich – 12 to 1
– - – Palin – 16 to 1
– - – Jindal – 25 to 1
– - – Huntsman – 25 to 1
– - – Huckabee – 20 to 1
Also – Extremely interesting —
– - – Hillary – 10 to 1
– - – Biden – 16 to 1
