Taylor just wrote: “Mr. President, the court needs another woman.”

    I’ll 2nd that emotion.

A lot buzzing. Two names I’ve heard others mention:

Jennifer Granholm (Constitution doesn’t prohibit it.)

just saw this woman mentioned: from the 9th Circuit

    Kim McLane Wardlaw

    yep…

    Meanwhile, graceless wingnuts are snarling:

It’s been relatively well-known that Souter was ready to retire for some time. In a final graceless move, he apparently wanted to make sure that the son of the man who appointed him wouldn’t have the chance to appoint his successor.

    Taylor,

I think the recent Supreme Court case of the 13 year-old girl who was STRIP SEARCHED because the principal thought she was holding that dangerous drug, Ibuprofen proves your point. Two of the justices (Scalia and Breyer) had comments that were so insulting (and inane) that it almost defies belief. I expected as much from Scalia, but Breyer?

  10. c chicago says:

Let’s all be thankful that it will be President Obama who selects the next SCJ and not President McCain.

  11. KRULLURK says:

    okay, some notes:

    1. Granholm: born in Canada, NOT a problem.

    2. comment on Huff-po: “Chance of a woman being picked? 100%”

    we’ll see, but I think that’s right.

    3. One vote for Judge Judy :)

  12. KRULLURK says:

    Ed Rendell’s wife?

Ill need help on that one.

  13. Lake Lady says:

I love Granholm. I don’t understand why she is not in Obama’s cabinet. She is far,far more impressive than Sebelius.

    c chicago…I AM very grateful!
