Saw her statement, with one thing to add:

“The President has outlined a strategy centered on a core goal: to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda, and to prevent their return to safe havens in Afghanistan or Pakistan,” Clinton said. “We combined our strategic review with intensive diplomacy, and nations from around the world are joining together to address this urgent challenge.”

Including Holbrooke’s push at the recent donor conference to help stabilize Pakistan.

I will forever be grateful to George Bush for one thing. Surviving his full terms in office. Can anyone imagine if Dick Cheney had become President with his set of values? OMG.

good grief! I just grew a few more grey hairs, just thinking about that possibility. We missed a bullet on that one. ;-)

Hillary was a vocal mouthpiece for the Bush/Cheney WMD lies, to deny it is ludicrous.

Lets see your quote of her doing this -

    He ran off again?

I’m beginning to think he really isn’t a “pissed off American” -he’s too uninformed to be truly pissed off.

I’d like to see the quote, too, Alice P. and djjl.

Hopefully CSPAN will re-broadcast Hillary’s testimony tonight – she is in her element in these types of settings – confident, well prepared, knows every answer, every detail.

The exact opposite of Sarah Palin!

I’m pleased with the Obama administration so far – I do hope they have the courage to lift the ban on gays serving in the military soon though.

No doubt we all remember the heat Bill Clinton took in 1993 on this issue but at least he was brave enough to try. It will be interesting to see if resistance has softened in the last 16 years – I would hope so but there is still that core group of right wingers on the GOP side who will do everything they can to prevent progress!

that was a classic, O’Donnel made mincemeat out of that guy.

BTW: Gen. Karpinsky interview on CNN (Re: torture at Abu Ghraib) also VERY well worth a listen: (should be available soon) She was just on with Rick Sanchez.

    Torture timeline predated legal approval

A new document indicates the CIA first proposed waterboarding alleged al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Zubaydah to top Bush administration officials in mid-May 2002, three months before the Justice Department approved the interrogation technique in a secret legal opinion.

This way OT, but had to share it ;-)

This is a video clip from a dating show, that features John Ziegler, Palin’s documentary “Media Malpractice” filmmaker as a contestant. You know the guy talking about the mean way the media treated Palin?

Needless to say, by the end of the date, you can see who the real misogynist is. John Ziegler. Apparently is not happy about this clip being out.

Thanks for that HuffPo link. It is what I had thought and worse. You can go back to the Woodward laudatory book – Bush at War – and read the Cheney was talking Iraq “big time” on 9/11.

  31. Audiegrl says:

Pence did have a really pained look on his face. If my mother-in-law was still alive, she would say:

he looks like a ghost sucking on a pickle

    ;-)

  32. Lake Lady says:

Hillary just continues to amaze, like Bill said she is a once in a generation individual. I think she is a national treasure and we are so lucky to have her. So is Obama, she will talk straight to him and she will try her best to protect him from the right.

  33. Lake Lady says:

The best thing about HRC,NOTHING intimadates her!

  34. ogenec says:

I loved it too. I really admire her ability to speak extemporaneously.

  35. lynnette says:

I think, at this moment, President Obama is glad he chose her! She will be a fierce fighter for him because she knows what certain people will try to do to him.

  36. Jane Austen says:

Pence had egg all over his face. Hillary had him cold. I loved the Obama won line.

As to Cheney and Iraq. Following the invasion of Iraq I read somewhere and I can’t remember for the likes of me where, that Cheney had begun to plan the invasion of Iraq in the ’90s. If someone read this also let me know.

  37. djjl says:

Waaaay late to this topic but what the hell. All I can add is a hearty BOO-muther-frickin’-YEEAH to that one.
*their* side: sniffle, snidely-quiet-concern-trolling voice,”Gee, isn’t it true that Obama is a poopy head for allowing himself to act like an adult and smile with a boogey man? He might as well have fellated the evil bad man!”
Clinton: “Suck it. Kennedy did it. Nixon did it. Ford did it. Carter did it. Reagan did it. It’s called diplomacy and maturity. You lost. Hell, *I* lost. We tried it your way for 8 years. Total Fail. Now it’s Obama’s turn.”

OK, so I threw in the suck it, but she had that going on between the lines to that douche.
