I thought Taylor’s article was worth putting here so that we could discuss it. That is if anyone is interested. Personally I am, and more than willing to learn.

Taylor, this was one hell of an article. After reading the one I posted and then yours, I would say that Bibi may have some problems convincing people that he’s right. How man Israelis does he want to be killed before he admits that he needs to get serious about negotiating a two state region.
As you know, my brother-in-law and sister are jewish (she by marriage and converting), and they both couldn’t stand Bibi when he was in power years ago, and still don’t like him.
Sorry Betsy. I have been busy watching the video of Barack and Hillary at the White House swing set.
Here it is if you want a giggle.

And I am trying to figure out if I can give Hillary a few more bucks and be eligible to win one of those three fabulous prizes.
That was funny kris. Holding a staff meeting at the swings. The press just can’t leave them alone, LOL.
I wonder where everyone is right now? I hope Geo is figuring out a way we can stay a progressive online community who love to discuss the topics of the day.
I would try but I don’t have the skills.
“Now Obama has announced we will join in on talks with Iran over their nuclear program (lack thereof is more like it)”
I don’t get the dichotomy that Obama’s conflicting public statements underscore. On the one hand, he expresses a willingness to engage Iran diplomatically, but on the other hand his rhetoric is straight off the AIPAC website, exagerating the progress of the Iranian nuclear program, improperly labeling the program as “illicit”, and inserting the words “threat” into almost virtually all of his comments about Iran’s nuclear program. I really don’t see how talks with Iran can go smoothly or have any sort of constructive end if Obama goes to the table using terms like “threat” and “illicit” to describe Iran’s adherence to the terms of the NPT.
Because of the above, I have some sincere doubts about the sincerity of any diplomatic efforts to resolve our differences with Iran. I have more than a nagging suspicion that our diplomatic efforts already have a pre-determined end game, much like George Bush’s posturing before the invasion of Iraq, where NOTHING Saddam Hussein could do would stop the demonization and the push for military action. Even today, the majority of Americans believe that Saddam “wouldn’t let the inspectors back in”, when in fact Saddam not only agreed to let them “back in”, but even offered to allow CIA observers to accompany the UN inspectors.
How, on the one hand can Obama be sincerely interested in diplomatic engagement, when he publically misrepresents the Iranian nuclear program as “illicit”?
Meanwhile, another massive shipment of American arms has landed in Israel, and Congress just voted to continue syphoning billions of dollars out of our economy and into the Israeli coffers. Considering that these two actions come right on the heels of Israeli IDF troops shooting an American in the head, dumping white phosphorous on Palestinian non-combatants, denying the “validity” of the Annapolis Accords, implying that a two state solution is off the table, and statements by both Netanyahu and Lieberman that the settlement expansion will continue, one shouldn’t entertain much optimism that Obama will do anything other than toe the Israeli line, even as it applies to Iran.
And the counsel of Dennis Ross and Hillary Clinton, behind closed doors, can’t spell much hope for “change” in our relationship with Israel. The Iranians don’t live in a vacuum. It is naive to think they have failed to note the Obama administration’s status quo attitude towards Israel, nor could they have failed to note Obama’s mute tolerance for the recent Israeli war crimes committed in Gaza.
Further, the granting of the Uzi Arad visa, right on the heels of the Freeman castration, also telegraph an unwillingness within this administration to step on Israeli toes. Constructive diplomatic engagement with Iran would definitely not sit well with the radical right in Israel, and I suspect that all the stops will be pulled out to sabotage any such possibility. Of course, false flag terrorist attacks against American interests, blamed on the Iranians, are well within the realm of possibilities. It not like the Israelis haven’t tried this ploy before, is it?
Anyway, if Obama expects “talks” to go anywhere, he might consider reading a script other than AIPAC’s. I’m all ears if someone wants to tell me what, exactly, is “illicit” about Iran’s nuclear program. But, uh, hey, be forewarned, if you go there, we will also need to discuss the 65 UN resolutions that Israel is in violation of, as well as discuss Israel’s possession of a nuclear arsenal, its sales of American weapons technology to China, and its refusal to join the NPT.
I wonder where everyone is right now? I hope Geo is figuring

Thanks JimK~ Good lord ,that is terrible and scary!
POA….on a very unsophistocated level I can respond to you that I agree that this country is wrong to not recognize the wrongs being committed by Israel.

In my opinion what we’re watching is the Kabuki theater of Israeli politics in America, coupled with a man, Barack Obama, who is attempting to do multiple things on interwoven layers, which by the way includes having someone like Clinton at State, as well as Joe Biden as veep. Some call it “cover,” but I think that’s too cynical, because I think old Israeli allies is what he’s going to need, especially as he continues to assert two-states amidst a Netanyahu-Lieberman gov., while speaking to the Muslim world saying things like we are not a Christian nation, which takes major spine.
I don’t expect you to agree with me, but I appreciate you considering that any Israeli policy by a president isn’t going to be changed, but can only be chess boarded out with every moving part shifting at once so that no one can see a straight line. Obama also doesn’t make foreign policy in a vacuum, especially on Middle East policy, which is the untouchable rail that comes with great consequences if certain pipers aren’t paid.
We shall see.
Hey JimK, feel free to make that a new “In the News” item. It’s getting a lot of play.
POA in case you didn’t go to the thread below this one. The reason I made that statement “how many Israelis does he want to see killed” is because we know Bibi and Lieberman don’t give a damn about the Palestinians, but you would think they cared about their own people. But then again Bush really didn’t care about his own people. If he had he wouldn’t have started the illegal war.
Taylor, don’t you wonder what Hillary and Obama were discussing at the swing set today. I would love to be a fly. Good grief, do you think they suspect leaks in the WH and State Department.;-)
For those who are Christians; tonight we went to Maunday Thursday service. Wow, it was very emotional. Anyway, it’s the first time that I’ve been to the Maunday service, I’m ashamed to say.
It was something seeing them sitting here, Betsy. Fly, indeed!
I’ve been to several, Betsy, and they are very emotional.
Well, I’m going to say good night to all. Another day tomorrow, and we’re going to the Good Friday Service tomorrow night.
