Boy, can I relate to David Brody. That is as far as email inboxes are concerned.
It seems that certain die hard members of the unhinged fringe are working overtime, via email, to equate Obama’s colossal
pander to the wingnuts represented by Rick Warren, and my subsequent dutiful evisceration of Obama propping
up of said wingnut, as equal to “buyer’s remorse” setting in. Like
I would ever have supported the likes of McCain-Palin? Honestly, I haven’t had
such a good laugh since Tina Fey mimicked Sarah Palin on SNL, making a fool of her
and everything John McCain.
Some want so badly to be able to say “I told you so.” As if anyone needs to school me on Obama’s political philosophy or lack thereof.
The real issue is that there can be no “agreeing to disagree” on matters of civil rights. Obama would never invite an avowed racist or anti-Semite to give the invocation, but it’s okay to invite a cute and cuddly, Hawaiian shirt wearing, evangelical homophobic bigot to do so, because he has a multitude of followers. It’s shameful, inexcusable and unforgivable, also anything but courageous. It’s also Obama’s choice to start his presidency in such a manner. Whoever doesn’t like it doesn’t have to support it, which I will not, and certainly doesn’t have to watch it.
