Just Go Away

The Bush legacy project, as Stephen Hayes dubbed it, is as insulting as it is fruitless. Karl and Karen burning the midnight oil to make sure their man Bush goes out on a high. Not a chance. We’ve
had to endure eight years of a president who was as incompetent a leader as we’ve ever had, now pretending as he prepares to leave like he wasn’t responsible for any of the disaster he leaves in his wake.
Ignoring “Bin Laden Determined to Attack in U.S.”
Hitting Afghanistan, then letting it wither on the vine in order to… be on
its way to a failed state yet again.
Intelligence failures that turned to cherry picking to…
Wage preemptive war on a country that wasn’t a threat to the U.S., did not
attack us, and couldn’t attack us, without provocation or proof of a clear and
present danger.
Declaring “mission accomplished” when it wasn’t.
Abu Ghraib.
Rendition.
Illegal wiretapping.
Defiling Justice by giving us Alberto Gonzales.
Seeing Putin’s soul.
Ignoring Middle East peace.
The Musharraf policy in Pakistan.
… … Oh, never mind, the list is endless.
Mr. Bush cannot remake himself, not even with the help
of his wife no matter how heartfelt she is about what she’s saying. No one
begrudges her the role. But to listen to George W. Bush try to quickly patch up his legacy on the way out after what he’s done in the eight years in office is the most offensively futile act he’s done in a long time and that’s saying a lot.
Just go away.
Quietly.
With your legacy between your legs and your head looking away. Your eight years too late to try to repair a lousy legacy that has made the majority of the American people ashamed you were ever our president.
Just go away.
