Blogging While Deranged

Yesterday it was certain male bloggers spreading unfounded allegations that WJC was making calls on Lieberman’s behalf.

Today it’s the same derangement, different subject.

It’s obviously being placed by some Clinton and Bush officials angling for more continuity with Bush’s torture regime.

Everyone would do well to consider the reality involved in the intelligence policy discussion today. First, as was said in the media call today with Podesta regarding Transition. Obama will be reviewing all Bush’s executive orders. So the report in the Wall Street Journal should be taken with that in mind. Secondly, the section about Obama and C.I.A. interrogation rules is analysis by Siobhan Gorman, which isn’t exactly shocking if you’ve been paying attention.

Upon review, Mr. Obama may decide he wants to keep the road open in certain cases for the CIA to use techniques not approved by the military, but with much greater oversight.

Spencer Ackerman adds more, focusing on Jami Miscik, linking to a piece he did for Salon about the Porter Goss debacle.

It’s positively ridiculous to make snap judgments at this point about anything, least of all C.I.A. interrogation rules now in place, which would bring maximum heat down on Obama before he’s even inaugurated. Seriously, on what planet are people residing and reporting these days?

What’s going on right now is a bunch of political pundits, commentators and opinionators run amok; looking for a story to break about Obama that makes news, while keeping their habit fed. The lull after the election is revealing excitement rot, with a side of write anything that gets attention and looks like you’re adding something about the current Obama Transition when you don’t actually know squat.

Advice: step away from the keyboard before you make (bigger) fools of yourself. Oh, and there isn’t a Clinton behind every story you don’t like. No, really, there isn’t.

As for all the Gates furor, why wouldn’t Obama keep him in place for the short-term? It supports Obamas bi-partisan national security promise, as well as the “water’s edge” tradition that Bush obliterated, making Obama once again appear like the adult in the mix.

Honestly, for all the support some media and bloggers gave Obama throughout the election, right now they seem to not have a clue about the man who will be president. Idolatry blinds.
