Marc Ambinder gives the
Palin 2012 argument a try today. This already? Ugh. As tired as we all are it’s depressing
to even read. But no one can doubt the GOP will start running against Obama next year, if we go on to win this thing.
The Wall Street Journal helps out today by changing the subject. Don’t
think about Palin’s lack of qualifications for veep, it’s Congress that’s the
problem. Low approval meets low approval is the excuse they hope to give their
peeps. But no one in Congress is very next in line to take over the presidency.
Only Sarah Palin has applied for that job. That’s the problem…. this year.
A TM.com reader lays it out:
Agreed Taylor and he must own them if he is ever to be held accountable for
them but in all honesty this is not the John McCain of old. For reasons I
am unable to fathom. he has made choices that I know go against his grain. I am a 50 year old white
female who has never voted Democratic in my life but this year I have worked
to ensure Obama wins because I truly feel my party left me no choice. Palin?

That’s what the Republicans just don’t get. Women aren’t stupid.
There is no doubt Sarah Palin is the heroine of the right-wing now. It’s obvious
she’s looking towards 2012. Her political performance ability is tremendous,
with her communication connection greater than we’ve seen from any Republican
in two decades. Her sex appeal is a real plus, too. In four years she can do
a lot of studying, because you can bet she won’t make the same mistake twice.
Or maybe she’ll do Congress? Too low a bar for her ambitions, which are unquenching
at this point. Hey, why not? McCain picked for veep, so the sky’s the limit.
Ambinder goes on to talk about Romney for 2012, which is a given, also Mike
Huckabee. That battle would be an ugly inter party hate fest. One person everyone
leaves out they shouldn’t. The time is ripe for a Newt comeback. He’s laid the
groundwork. Sarah, beware.
Oh, and don’t forget this guy.
