GET THE SMELLING SALTS: ‘the PUMAs are Dead’

But before we get to that, get a load of these poll numbers. Now, everyone around here knows I’m super skeptical of polls, but this is critical mass, solidifying the 10-point measure I set a while back for Obama to take this down. Pew poll is out of this world, 52% – 38%, with NBC-WSJ having Obama at 10 points up on McCain. One of the biggest problems? You guessed it, . She’s a bigger drag on McCain than George W. Bush.

… Fifty-five percent of respondents say she’s not qualified to serve as president if the need arises, up five points from the previous poll.
In addition, for the first time, more voters have a negative opinion of her than a positive one. In the survey, 47 percent view her negatively, versus 38 percent who see her in a positive light. That’s a striking shift since McCain chose Palin as his running mate in early September, when she held a 47 to 27 percent positive rating.

Now, Palin’s qualifications to be president rank as voters’ top concern about McCain’s candidacy – ahead of continuing President Bush’s policies, enacting economic policies that only benefit the rich and keeping too high of a troop presence in Iraq.

Poor little kitties. No doubt this fact comes as a blow to Jim
Geraghty
:

“On that issue of party unity, we’re to believe that the PUMAs
are coming back to Obama in signficant numbers…”

Too much catnip for that
conservative. Depending on PUMAs to save McCain is like waiting for to make a cogent speech
on foreign policy anything. FiveThirtyEight
explains bluntly gives Geraghty the facts of life: “Sorry, Jim, the PUMAs are Dead.”

New from friends over at the Truman
Project for National Security
. They also rate Obama and McCain on veterans’
issues. It’s an important new site that TM.com will be supporting however we can.

Interview with Joe Biden

including Prop 8. FDL has more.

Kudos to Rachel
Maddow
.

But seriously, if you want to know what the Democratic team is at their core, just take a look at the video and the impact of Joe Biden’s work to get the Violence Against Women Act passed. The video, also up in the headlines, will bring you to tears.

Topic free for all. You’re up. Beware of hissing cats.
