Hillary Clinton During Media Call: ‘Closing the Chapter on Republican Misrule’

BREAKING… Hillary takes
a moment from campaigning for Obama-Biden and the Democrats to talk to progressive bloggers.

She’s had quite a schedule lately. So it was terrific for her to check in with us and let us know what she’s been doing and what still needs to be done. She wanted our help, but more on that in a minute.

So far, has done over 50 events
and raised over $10 million dollars for Obama-Biden, and she’s not done yet. She’s traveled from New Hampshire
to Florida, to Pennsylvania and Michigan, Nevada and California and places in
between, with no stop in sight. On a call today, Clinton said last night’s debate
“closed the deal” and we’re “closing the chapter on Republican
misrule.” It was “3 for 3″ or “4 for 4″ if you included
Senator Biden’s debate.

offers steady, ready leadership that America needs,”
she continued. “Last night was McCain’s last chance… and once again we
only saw more of the same. … I’m going to keep working as hard as I can to
reach as many voters as possible.” – Senator

I taped the call (for reporting accuracy), so wasn’t able to ask one of the questions. Armando of TalkLeft
asked about down ticket races, as well as the homeowner mortgage issue that McCain
seemed to channel from Hillary last night at the debate. Clinton
gave a nod to Obama for his moratorium on foreclosures. As for down ticket races, four Democratic House
member possibilities in New York. Linda
Stender
, Anne Barth,
Texas and New Mexico House members, all have good chances to win. She’s particularly
focused on the Senate in order to “help President Obama.”
Jeanne Shaheen, Kay
Hagan
, Bruce Lunsford,
Musgrove, Rick
Noriega
in Texas, candidates in Georgia, Al
Franken
, Alaska and Oregon wins are possible too. “We’ve got a big field
to play on,” said Clinton. Josh Orton of MyDD asked about Fox News Channel.
Obama is quoted in the New York Times story for the weekend as saying he’d be 3-4 more points ahead if it weren’t for Fox. Do you have prescriptions on how Dems should treat
Fox in the future? “It’s an opportunity for us to meet them head on. …
I carried the Obama-Biden message (to Fox)… We have to take them on in an
effective manner,” Clinton responded. Adding that we can’t ignore them. “Progressive
voices can counter and drown out” some of their propaganda. “You’re
not going to be defeated or deterred by them… you’re going to go right after
them,” she continued. Melissa McEwan asked about the rules
changes on the Department of Health and Human Services
that would govern
family planning, asking if Hillary had talked to Obama about it. She hadn’t
yet, but said the work continues and she can’t wait until the Administration
is gone so things can change.

It was a good call reaching out to progressive bloggers, letting us know that
there is still so much to do before election day, which not only includes getting
Barack and elected, but making sure we get as close to a filibuster
proof majority in the Senate as possible.

Hillary signed off with a thank you, as she gets ready to hit the road again.
She’s as committed to electing Obama and Biden as she is to making sure New
York has more Democrats to send to the House, while taking it to incumbents
like Mitch McConnell (support
Bruce Lunsford
)
, whom it was clear she so wants to send home
to Kentucky.
