There goes the rest of the undecided women. Is it any wonder that 99.9% of Hillary’s supporters are backing Obama?
Did McCain really take the time to emphasize that? Yes, he did. Did he actually use air
quotes on the word “health” to punch his point? Yes, unbelievably
he did.
“… ‘Health’ of the mother. You know, that’s been stretched by the
pro abortion movement in America to mean almost anything.” – John McCain
No politician, let alone presidential contender, regardless of political party,
should utter such a thing about a woman at a life altering moment of her life like choosing between herself and her endangered fetus. It’s
absolutely unconscionable. Another politician in a debate for any other office would be finished.
No wonder focus groups tilted to Obama, with many undecideds going his way,
while some Republican women even thought McCain was too heavy handed at times.
Focus Group of undecided independent voters conducted by Frank Luntz for
Fox NewsLuntz: …none had made a decision to support Sen. Obama before the debate,
but more than half supported after the debate. It was a good night for Barack
Obama.
McCain’s air quote “health” moment will linger with me a very long time. I just can’t believe any potential president
would ridicule the life of the mother in a situation that is so emotionally wrenching.
From compassionate conservative, which was never delivered, to callous conservative, which was certainly delivered upon tonight. McCain gets more like Bush every day.
