JOE BIDEN: Say it to his face.

It’s not exactly “you talking to me?,” but it will do.
GIBSON: Were you surprised, A, that he didn’t bring it up last night at the debate and use that line of attack? And, B, since you must have prepared for it, what were you going to say?
OBAMA: Well, I am surprised that, you know, we’ve been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days that he wasn’t willing to say it to my face.
Debate war, mark off twenty paces. If Obama calls McCain out next week, or McCain gets the spine to do the same, people who haven’t seen Obama in action when pushed might be surprised. Having watched him throughout the primaries, many times up close, I can say without a doubt that if you push Obama too far he will get in your face.
Good for Democrats on two fronts. We always get accused of being soft, though we aren’t. Obama is considered “cool,” though he can be strongly direct when needed, even if he prefers the deft touch. McCain will solidify the angry man persona. Either way we win.
UPDATE: Biden slams McCain: Say it to his face. Oh, and he said it in Missouri. Go Joe.
“All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on YouTube … John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him,” Biden said this morning. “In my neighborhood, when you’ve got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him.”
