The Formation of a Pro-Palin Media

If you were away, sleeping, vacationing, or partying it up at the Ron Paul convention you missed something big. Let me fill you in, the formation of a pro-Palin media began last week. And to think, it all began with “scrutiny.”

God forbid the media ask questions about Palin’s experience.

God forbid the media talk about her daughter’s pregnancy! We NEVER thought they would do that!

God forbid the media ask the question, “why Palin?”

God forbid the media possibly ask if this is a ploy to siphon “Hillary supporters.”

I mean, that media- sheesh! Who do they think they are?? They are normally so fair and even-handed.

It all began with babygate. And to be honest, I didn’t see a single media outlet give credence to that wretched myth. For and the GOP to release the information about Governor Palin’s daughter, defend the pregnancy of a teen, in the same breath reference a rumor that hadn’t even been picked up by mainstream media, then criticize the media for addressing the myth that was referenced by the GOP, is so outlandishly bottom-backwards it’s no wonder people fell for it!

Typical for Republicans to unleash a beast then slay you for approaching it.

What I find astounding is that McCain-Palin are sitting pretty comfortably while fawning over meaningless tripe in an attempt to inject any controversy into this race. The transparent endeavor into juvenile deflection is all to keep us from realizing the stark truism, when you’re running for the job of incumbent administration, an administration which you voted lockstep with 95% of the time, “CHANGE” isn’t exactly the mantra you should be touting. It comes off a bit, say, disingenuous.

I can just see it now. The media- out of fear- will deride any form of criticism towards Governor Palin in some unsound effort to evade the claims of sexism from being thrown into their backyards. Just like the media allows John McCain to lie about his veterans record, while disregarding his true veterans record (because he is a war hero) they will now allow Palin to paint herself as a “champion” for women because she is a- wait for it- woman!

Groundbreaking stuff, I know.

It will be another round of meaningless and banal adjectives when speaking of the candidates:

McCain/Palin: Hero, Maverick, Reformer, Hawk, Fortitude
Obama/Biden: Unkown, Uppity, Elitist, new-comer, unvetted

Where is this liberal media? And where can I subscribe? Do I have to get a special cable “liberal” package? I would love to see someone treat McCain and Palin the way the corporate media treats Obama.

I can already hear it, ” Palin is an impressive woman.” “Palin is a formidable candidate.” “Palin has broken barriers for women.” While these pliant claims are respectable, we all know they shouldn’t truly be spoken. What has Palin truly done, besides aim at riding the coattails of Hillary Clinton’s primary run?

These pseudo-sexist claims cannot scare us all into submission. We have to keep going! We have to keep pressing the issues at hand! McCain-Palin are NOT the kind of people we need in office. Have we learned NOTHING from the past 8 years? It is times like this I question my party. What is more important? An actual war? Or the story of a war hero?

The Republicans have begun to nurse and pamper their new conservative queen, protecting her from the media, alienating her from questions and critique. They can do it in the name of demanding “deference” but we all know it’s because of unpreparedness. No amount of spin can make that fact go away.

And while we sit and stare at these meaningless polls showing us a set of numbers that leaves us in a state of bewilderment, it’s important that we coalesce, and keep our eyes on the prize: the electoral map. Senator Obama is leading. That is music to our cynical, liberal, and disillusioned ears. It’s going to take a lot more of Palinmania to make that news dissipate.

…or maybe just another lipstick smear.
