Yummy Denver Dining

Reporting from Denver
We may be blue-collar, but my husband and I have a real fetish for wonderful
dining when we can. One of the favorite things we like to do is discover restaurants
in the places where we travel. Compliments of Jeralyn of Talk Left, who’s also
writing for 5280 Magazine, we discovered a beautiful
little spot for Italian. We skipped the main course and just camped out in the
savory explosion of different pasta courses, one more remarkable than the other.
Here’s the menu we chose, including desert and wine:
House made burrata, cherry tomato brasato, garlic and basil fettunata
Fusilli, wild mushrooms, shaved grana padana and creamy white truffle sauce
Olathe Corn Agnolotti, ciccioli, morel mushrooms, parmesan reggiano
Lasagnette, lobster, shrimp, lump crab and white wine tomato sauce
Molten chocolate cake, vanilla bean gelato
Wine: Antinori, Tuscan
Portions were small, which allowed us to taste so many wonderful dishes.
The staff was very attentive, the service impeccable. They also worked with
us, because I’d made my reservation a couple of weeks ago, but we got into Denver
late. They couldn’t have been nicer. The atmosphere is cozy, with warm earthen
colors on the wall. They also have a lovely tasting menu, with a terrific wine list, including
the option of wine flights.
The star of the night, however, was the food. It was absolutely marvelous.
In fact, since Luca d’Italia opens at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday, I’m hoping
we can sneak back for a quick bite another time this week, maybe sit at the
wonderful bar, which is our favorite place to have a nosh. I simply have to
have the Fusilli again. It was a close your eyes, mmmmmm moment.
Let’s make this an open thread. I’ve got to do some pre convention
biz this morning. It’s a beautiful day in Denver.
