Well, isn’t this lovely. Nice new slogan. “Vote McCain. Restore the Draft!” But wait for it. McCain allegedly didn’t hear the question about Corsi’s swiftboating book, so I’m expecting another hearing moment from John McCain.

But that’s not the real news. Someone is finally picking up on what I’ve been saying. Either that or they read my post on going at McCain on national security this morning. Susan Rice and Richard Clarke went straight at McCain on national security, attacking his judgment during a conference call (includes reporter questions). It was a very strong call, making a very strong case.

Richard Clarke on the call didn’t mince words. On the pressing top issues of national security today, Iraq and Afghanistan, “Obama gets an A. McCain gets an F.”

PODCAST: Susan Rice and Richard Clarke challenge McCain judgment on National Security

Very well done by Rice and Clarke.

This is on the mark. More, please, lots, lots more. In order to win in November, Obama and the Democrats simply must strip away the facade of foreign policy reality from the McCain “good judgment on national security” myth. Osama and Al Qaeda are at large, with the Taliban waging new attacks in Afghanistan, with Pakistan now a safe haven. McCain has a dangerous view of U.S. foreign policy, which we cannot afford.

The entire Democratic convention should focus on this, with video. Turn the subject into McCain’s perceived strength and wipe it out. It’s the sure winner.
