The Definition of Sexism

It’s on parade all over the political spectrum today after Obama and Clinton
came to a deal to put her name in nomination. Hannity called Obama weak again today. Michael Goodwin is exhibit A.
Russia rolls over Georgia, Hillary Clinton does the same to Barack Obama.
Now we know who’s boss.Obama blinked and stands guilty of appeasing Clinton by agreeing to a roll
call vote for her nomination. That he might not have had much choice if he
wanted peace only proves the point that he’s playing defense at his own convention.
Obama was rolled!
Obama caved!
If he can’t handle Hillary, how will he handle Russia?
Of course conservatives are saying this today. Rush calls professional journalists “info-babes.” Professional women are “feminazis.” They don’t even want to pay women equal to men for the same job. Carly Fiorina couldn’t even give me an answer to that one in the interview I had with her, reduced to saying “I hear what you’re saying.” Bush has Dr. Rice basically playing Administration hopscotch, filling
whatever position is opened, without giving her the authority of any title she holds. As national security advisor she was reduced to a mute next to Rummy and Cheney. So, why should we be surprised when the presumptive nominee, when faced with
a woman of essentially equal power to his, minus being able to put herself over
the top for the nomination, is respected by that nominee, because his female opponent came close to beating him? Republicans are never egalitarian when it comes to women. GOP gals are allowed
to be seen, but if they’re for women’s civil rights, they’re not allowed to
speak, or in the case of Christy Todd Whitman, their expertise is ignored until she had to quit.
“We have no other clues as to what Barack Obama would be like as president?”

According to Morris, Obama had “Hillary over a barrel.” No other “loser,” as HRC is being called today, ever got 18 million votes, close to the same as the nominee. But because Obama recognizes the clout Clinton has earned and has also retained, it tells the American voter how he’d govern. If that’s true then every single woman in this country ought to vote for this guy, because after a grueling primary season, the clamor of disrespect over sexis made by HRC supporters, at long last Obama and his team, as well as the Democratic Party, get it.
It’s not easy for the political establishment to come to grips with female power on parade when it comes to the presidency. The Democrats have been awaken. The Republican Rumpelstiltskin Party is still in a deep 18th century slumber vis-Ã -vis sexism. It’s proven every day.
Not surprisingly, the quintessential 20th century man, David Gergen, opined on CNN that even though Obama didn’t mean to, he looks
like he collapsed to Clinton. Seriously? She didn’t earn what Obama agreed to? You bet she did and Obama and every liberated man and woman in the Democratic Party knew it. Giving Clinton her due does not make Obama look “weak.” It’s a sign of strength, for him and our party.
But all this caterwauling makes you wonder if we’ll ever turn the gender power page. A man giving a strong woman credit where it’s due is considered “weak” in this country. It’s disheartening in the extreme.
The GOP gasbags and talking heads can rant all they want about Obama “caving.”
They can make all the cute foreign policy analogies they want. But unlike McCain who denies
women’s rights, including for equal pay, Barack Obama doesn’t think of women
as something to be placed into a topless beauty contest at Sturgis. Obama actually believes women can also rule the world.
