John McCain Mocks Obama on Dollar Bill- In JUNE.

All the clamor, haughty condescension, and distasteful rhetoric about “The Race Card” and injections of race into this election shouldn’t even be brought up anymore with this revelation. Senator Obama’s mild statements have seemingly been put under the microscope- a place where, unlike Senator McCain, Senator Obama has been residing for the past two years.

This is so completely typifying of the press finding a narrative, sticking to it, and doing absolutely no research. It is typifying of the media’s obsession with race, but only the talks of race that THEY want to have. The talks of race that defend the “race card” sentiment. The talks of race that fit the golden standard. The “race is not a huge part of society today” standard.

Obama’s statement (paraphrased) “They will try to say, ‘he doesn’t look like the rest of the Presidents on the dollar bill.’”

Well, Democrats, here’s a video from the John McCain campaign mocking the thought of Obama being on the dollar bill, in JUNE, before Senator Obama’s statements. It is not some rogue youtube ad. This was made BY the campaign. It on the campaign youtube page. What irony, eh?! Obama says they will do EXACTLY what they will do.. or in this case, what they have already done.

Now, it’s not that John McCain’s campaign would mock the thought of Senator Obama being on the dollar bill (well, kind of), it is the bigger picture.

It’s the fact that they would mock Senator Obama being on the bill with such a ubiquitous “mugshot” photo. It’s the idea that they would mock the possibility of Senator Obama somehow being a part of any national monument and in an essence being a part of history. It is the fact that they use this ad to make such a possibility look silly, mediocre, “different.”

It is the thought that the John McCain would imply this notion, “how dare he.” How dare he what? How dare he construct and relay positive ideas for America? How dare he try to motivate, inspire, and incite passion and excitement about himself, the direction of the nation, and this election year? Or how dare he step out of bounds and think that it’s possible to be black and lead America? It’s a slippery slope John McCain’s campaign is cartwheeling downhill on.

It seems I’m not the only one raising an eyebrow, shaking my head, and taking out my frustrations via words-

From Bob Herbert’s latest NYT op-ed “Running While Black“:

Spare me any more drivel about the high-mindedness of John McCain.
You knew something was up back in March when, in his first ad of the
general campaign, Mr. McCain had himself touted as “the American
president Americans have been waiting for.”

There was nothing
subtle about that attempt to position Senator Obama as the Other, a
candidate who might technically be American but who remained in some
sense foreign, not sufficiently patriotic and certainly not one of us —
the “us” being the genuine red-white-and-blue Americans who the ad was
aimed at.

Moreover, it’s the idea that John McCain has been pulling these kinds of stunts since the beginning of this campaign without a peep from the press. It’s absolutely undeniable! The media still very much eat out of the palm of Senator McCain and the rest of the GOP shills, unfortunately.

John McCain thinks that he can inject race into this campaign by raising this ridiculous notion that Senator Obama will change the “100 dollar bill” while turning the tables and blaming Senator Obama for accurately saying what McCain’s cronies have already portrayed.

::sigh:: It all gets a little more Rovian each day.

Feeling pissed? Call the McCain Headquarters** (703) 418-2008 or email CNN here
