The Art of the Flip Flop, by John McCain.

Ah yes, John McCain. What a paragon of principle he is.

Nevada is a battleground state this year. Though my beat is national and foreign policy topics, you can imagine my amusement when I started getting emails on McCain’s growing Nevada problem. First off, McCain’s tapped Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki to serve as Nevada campaign chairman. There’s all sorts of problems with the leadership in Nevada, with Gibbons being the worst specimen of political ineptitude and ethical depravity around. However, what’s hilarious is that Krolicki could become an embarrassment too.

Taking office in January of last year, the Lieutenant Governor has been serving under a cloud almost from the beginning. His successor, Kate Marshall, says she discovered Krolicki had improperly used state funds to promote the Nevada College Savings Plan rather than money from the private firm administering the program.

The promotion included TV ads prominently featuring Krolicki as he was preparing to run for another office. Marshall also complained files in the treasurers office had been purged, documents shredded as Krolicki moved on to his new job.

The attorney general’s office began the funding investigation, but soon both issues were being handled by the Nevada Division of Investigations.

That’s a story from February 2008. Seriously, does McCain not vet these people? It took one email from a friend to get the info to me, and I don’t even cover Nevada. You’d think the McCain campaign would at least use The Google. Oh right, McCain has his wife do that for him. He’d make such a fine 19th century president.
