Wright Hits Airwaves and Press Club, Obama Hits Fox

You have to wonder what Reverend Wright is thinking. It certainly isn’t about
Barack Obama, because if he cared at all about the Democratic frontrunner he’d
stay out of sight.

“… (Obama) goes out as a politician and says what he has to say as a politician. … .. And he says what he has to say as a politician. … ..”

Wright
Says His Words Were Twisted

However, that’s not the plan. Besides his interview with
PBS, Wright
will headline at the Press Club
on Monday.

Explaining away Rev. Wright, especially after the GOP ad that was put up in
North Carolina (now pulled), is likely an added reason Obama’s also decided
to appear on Fox “News” Sunday
. That and the fact that he got
creamed in Pennsylvania. Obviously, Obama and his team have decided that lunch
bucket Democrats watch Fox, so he wants to take advantage of that audience. Obama’s recent revelation that the youth won’t can’t carry him to the nomination is another. It also signals the realization in camp Obama that his nomination is now on the ropes.

But having Reverend Wright whining that it’s
all our fault
is only going to hurt Barack Obama further. ABC attempts to bring Wright “beyond the bite,” to offer context. Here it is: “Rev. Wright preaches on the alleged “racist” nature of the U.S. government.” Swell.

So fire it up, baby. Reverend Wright’s greatest hits all over again. People will once
again play the tapes and re-argue a point that the less informed and more naive,
which obviously included Obama’s fans, thought had been put to rest after Obama’s speech. Those of
us who live and work in reality knew better. Wright will never go away and by
accepting these high profile invitations Wright is telegraphing that he has
no intention of staying silent. His character has been impugned, so he’s going to fix it. Obama’s challenges as a politician don’t move Wright, because it’s just politics. That spells real trouble going forward, but not just for Barack Obama.

Mr. Wright, Senator Barack Obama’s former pastor, gave an interview
to Bill Moyers on Wednesday, to air on PBS tomorrow.

“I felt it was unfair,” Mr. Wright said, according to excerpts
of the interview released Thursday. “I felt it was unjust. I felt it
was untrue. I felt for those who were doing that, were doing it for some very
devious reasons.”

In Mr. Wright’s sermons, he suggested that Americans bore some responsibility
for the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, saying “America’s
chickens are coming home to roost.” He also blamed the government for
the spread of AIDS among African-Americans, characterized the United States
government as corrupt and referred to the “U.S. of K.K.K. A.”
He did not apologize or back away from his remarks in the interview, instead
saying that people wanted to paint him as “some sort of fanatic.”

“It’s to paint me as something — ‘Something’s
wrong with me. There’s nothing wrong with this country … for its
policies. We’re perfect. Our hands are free. Our hands have no blood
on them,’” he said. “That’s not a failure to communicate.
The message that is being communicated by the sound bites is exactly what
those pushing those sound bites want to communicate.” … ..

Wright
Says His Words Were Twisted

Two words: quit digging.

According to the Times, Wright also says the following a couple of
times about Obama: “…he goes out as a politician and says
what he has to say as a politician. … .. And he says what he has to say as
a politician. … ..”
There aren’t enough words to describe
the problem with this characterization about Obama’s words versus his actual intentions, according to Rev. Wright.

See the superdelegates sweat.
