Scrutiny Bites

17 April 2008 8:50 am by Taylor Marsh

I called Obama on this last night. Putting it bluntly, he lied. Fact Hub is on it.

The
debate
blowback on ABC is complete. Maybe next time journalists should get an okay from team Obama on what questions
they’re allowed to ask. Two journalists do their jobs, the same
job I’ve been doing for a year, and the all out whining reaches crescendo to
a contagion of head explosions. As if these questions shouldn’t have been asked before. As if Barack Obama shouldn’t have had answers to these ready
and waiting. Can you say not ready for the general election?

Yes, they were tough. They were pointed. They brought up uncomfortable subjects.
Wake up to scrutiny, something Hillary Clinton has taken for over 16 years.

Seriously, take a look at Memeorandum.
Obama’s "progressives," who never miss a beat in slamming all things
Clinton, are in a panic. Bawack cwumbled under fire last night and
they’re all beside themselves. In a tizzy…. a tailspin… a babbling furor.

Puh-leaze.

However, one of the more interesting tidbits comes from Think Progress and the fact that Sean Hannity and George Stephanopoulos had a chat about Ayers. I’ve been warning Democrats about wing-nut radio and their impact for over a decade. Nice they finally woke up to what’s been around for many election cycles. Nobody cared when it happened to the Clintons. But Barack! The horror.

HANNITY: There are two questions that I don’t think anybody has asked Barack Obama, and I don’t know if this is going to be on your list tomorrow. One is – the only time he’s ever been asked about his association with Bill Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist from the Weather Underground who on 9/11 of all days in the New York Times was saying “I don’t regret setting bombs. I don’t think we did enough.” When asked about it by the Politico, David Axelrod said that they have a friendly relationship, and that they had done a number of speeches together and that they sat on a board together. Is that a question you might ask?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, I’m taking notes right now.

HANNITY: September 11, 2001 of all days, there was an article in the New York Times. And there are a number of quotes about Bill Ayers. The Politico had in there the comments from David Axelrod.

Given that Ayers and Wright have been in the political bloodstream for a long time, how do you explain Obama’s complete collapse when the subject was brought up? Easy. Team Obama never dreamed anyone would dare question Obama on his past, especially the worst elements. He’s gotten a pass so far, something that would never be allowed with Hillary.

Someone should pick out the best and the worst reviews, taking them from Memeorandum,
so we can see just how ridiculous the this all is.

Or maybe Obama should call Clinton. She can no doubt feel his pain.

I’m on deadline this morning for something, so this is an open thread.
