Obama’s Pastor Disaster Just Lost Missouri

Jerome has posted on this one, too, but as a Missourian by birth, with connections still in that state, this
is the poll I’ve been waiting to see.
New polling data released on Wednesday shows John McCain opening a lead over
both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Missouri. As a result, Missouri has
shifted from Toss-Up status to Leans Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Balance
of Power Calculator.
That’s why Clinton went to, of all places, Richard Mellon Scaife’s haunts to
talk about all things, especially Rev. Wright. Not through a surrogate, but
herself. As an aside, Clinton also worked with impeachment foes like Lindsay Graham, so everyone whining about Clinton going to Scaife should just shut the hell up. Why do you think she’s also going on Fox? It’s not like fair treatment is coming from all quarters, now is it? “Hardball” has become Shove Clinton From The Race Central. (Earlier this week Mika Brzezinski actually asked Matthews on “Morning Joe” if he was endorsing Obama! Oh snap, what a moment. Brzezinski creamed Chris, who didn’t take it well at all. It was a thing of beauty) But as for Clinton and Scaife, she needed to be on the record distancing herself, because Wright’s
anti-American hate screeds is tarring the entire Democratic party.
You know why?
This is the talking point that wingnuts have been using to swiftboat
Dems for years. You know the drill: Democrats are anti-American, unpatriotic, blah-blah-blah. Only now they’ve got anti-American rantings from Obama’s preacher of 20 years, so they don’t need to make anything up. Wright is simply a gift, on tape, and since Obama continues to embrace this man it compounds our problems for the general election.
This isn’t about preaching the gospel of forgiveness, people. It’s politics.
Harry Truman would have taken one listen to Rev. Wright and walked out. That’s
why so many Clinton voters say they won’t vote for Obama. So don’t let the talking
heads kid you. In the general election Wright will be toxic. Those swing states will be moving into the McCain column. Missouri is simply a bellwether.
