The President Takes a Picture

Get the feeling that Obama’s freak out over his judgment gap on Wright is making
his campaign a little nuts? Yeah, me too. But just like when Rezko got a little
too uncomfortable, up pops another picture with Obama’s albatross of the moment, but this one shows former President Bill Clinton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright together in a crowded room at some function at the White House. Presidents take pictures
with people. Alert the media!

Wright is not going away for Mr. Obama, and seeing Wright stand with other
Democrats isn’t going to help him.

Phil Singer, a Clinton campaign spokesman, said in an e-mail message, “In
the course of his two terms in office, Bill Clinton met with, corresponded
with and took pictures with literally tens of thousands of people.”
… ..

… .. Still, Republican strategists said the episode with Mr. Obama could
give Mr. McCain and his supporters a potent line of attack, a way to challenge
Mr. Obama’s patriotism by questioning why he did not challenge Mr. Wright
when Mr. Wright made statements attacking the nation.

Republicans have offered hints of other ways they will try to come after
Mr. Obama in this area, pointing to him saying why he had stopped wearing
an American flag on his lapel and how his wife, Michelle, had said at a rally
for her husband that “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud
of my country.”

Three Clinton surrogates and donors said Thursday that Mr. Wright
had been a natural topic in conversations with superdelegates and donors.
They said the possible effects on Mr. Obama’s electability were a legitimate
concern for Democrats who want to win in the fall.
… ..

No kidding. “Natural topic in conversations” is right. The
Rev. Wright effect on Senator Obama if he’s the nominee is now in the water. It’s going to continue to weigh the senator down. If Clinton can put together big wins in Pennsylvania, including in those demographics that turn swing states blue, Rev. Wright could be Obama’s downfall. Superdelegates want to win and anything standing in the way, especially un-American screeds caught on YouTube that Republicans will use over and over again, is going to sway their votes. They don’t call them superdelegates for nothing.
