Obama Using Auto-Calls Against Clinton
Headline changed due to new information.
Mr. Hope digs deep into the Republican playbook in order to win in New Hampshire.
“This afternoon, I received a pre-recorded phone message from
the Obama campaign attacking Senator Clinton even though I am on the Do-Not-Call
List.” – Sandy Keans, former NH state representative
Here’s an audio of the auto-call going
out for Obama attacking Hillary Clinton. Planned
Parenthood helped. Another example of why I don’t support this group. Because if you
look at Mr. Obama’s “present” votes, you can see that their “100%
rating” for him ignores the fact that he’d rather give conservatives cover
on women’s civil rights than take a stand. It’s not the triangulation of Obama’s
political principles that bother me as much as his inability to be counted righteously committed to no compromise for any reason on women’s civil rights.
If you’re not familiar with the whole Bass
vs. Hodes dust up, read up, then meet Obama channeling Republicans (yet again).
The National Republican Congressional Committee agreed yesterday to stop
sending prerecorded messages to residents on the federal Do Not Call Registry,
according to Deputy Attorney General Bud Fitch. The move came after Democratic Party activists complained over the weekend
that voters in the 2nd Congressional District were being called with an automatic
message. … ..
When you get into the legal mumbo jumbo of this stuff, I’m in the tall weeks
with a blindfold. So I had a friend help me with it. Here’s the link to follow
the law.
RSA 664:14-a Prerecorded Political Messages. I. In this section, “prerecorded
political message” means a prerecorded audio message delivered by telephone
by:
(a) A candidate or political committee; or
(b) Any person when the content of the message expressly or implicitly advocates
the success or defeat of any party, measure, or person at any election, or
contains information about any candidate or party.
II. No person shall deliver or knowingly cause to be delivered a prerecorded
political message unless the message contain, or a live operator provides,
within the first 30 seconds of the message, the following information:
(a) The name of the candidate or of any organization or organizations the
person is calling on behalf of.
(b) The name of the person or organization paying for the delivery of the
message and the name of the fiscal agent, if applicable.
III. No person shall deliver or knowingly cause to be delivered a prerecorded
political message to any telephone number on any federal do not call list.
IV. (a) A violation of this section shall result in a civil penalty
of $5,000 per violation.
Obama and his team know that taking a $5,000 hit is nothing compared to victory.
Sound familiar? Channeling wingnut war games all the way to victory, baby.
Here’s the transcript of the auto-call:
“Hi this is Wendy Frosh, chair of the board of Planned Parenthood
in Northern New England. As people have begun to rally around Barack Obama’s
call for change, the (inaudible) attacks have begun. He was a (inaudible)
activist in reproductive rights for more than 20 years, I know the facts.
Barack has a 100% pro-choice record and has always been a champion for women’s
rights. Hillary Clinton’s last minute smears won’t protect the
right to choose. But as president, Barack Obama will. Please join me in supporting
Barack Obama this Tuesday. Thank you. Paid for by Obama for America.”
Oba-ma.
Oba-ma.
Oba-ma!
Yeah, baby. It’s the politics of change… er, hope… er… um…. Oba-ma! Say it louder.
