| Obama and Huckabee Win Iowa Turnout for Dems: 236,000!!! |
Huge turnout for the Democrats in Iowa, that’s part of this story. A really exciting part of this is the youth vote, which it looks like turned out for Obama. That’s nothing but good news for Democrats.
Obama wins a terrific victory for himself tonight. Congratulations to him and
his team, who campaigned hard. He’s got 37% right now, with Edwards and Clinton
tied.
Obama will get tremendous press, which he has earned through this victory. It is a remarkable accomplishment for him, going up against Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, a man who dug himself into Iowa.
For Edwards, I believe it’s all up hill for him. He will go on to New Hampshire, but it won’t be easy to gain any ground. Obama isn’t going to give in and neither is Clinton. He needs money. If you like him, donate. His speech after his second place finish was remarkable.
Clinton will likely end up third, virtually tied with Edwards. It’s a loss for her, but she’s got the money and organization to keep going. They’re likely already one foot into New Hampshire. The story the media is crafting is that she’s got a hill to climb. Not taking anything away from Obama’s win, this is one state, one loss. The battle is joined and nothing will be settled before February 5th.
Another really big story tonight is on the Republican side. Mitt Romney took a shellacking tonight. Remarkable victory for Huckabee. Seriously, Obama’s win is taking all of the oxygen, as it should, but this win by Huckabee is simply huge. John McCain is dancing, no doubt.
It’s a very exciting night. Again, congratulations to Barack Obama and his entire team. However, this is a victory for ALL Democrats, with the top tier Democrats getting 30% in a red state, something Howard Dean talked about earlier. The Republicans have to be freaked.
I’ll have a special Friday post-election radio show tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. eastern – 12:00 p.m. pacific. Hope you can join me.
