Romney Aims at Varmints But Shoots Self

Oh my goodness, it doesn’t get much better than this:
In answer to questions about whether he would sign an assault weapons ban,
Romney said: “Just as the president said, he would have, he would have
signed that bill if it came to his desk, and so would have I. And, and, and
yet I also was pleased to have the support of the NRA when I ran for governor.
I sought it, I seek it now. I’d love to have their support.”Later in the interview, he added the following:
“I just talked about, about guns. I told you what my position was, and
what I, what I did as governor; the fact that I received the endorsement of
the NRA.”The problem?
He was never endorsed by the NRA, and didn’t have their official support
during his 2002 gubernatorial campaign. The NRA declined to endorse in that
race, as was acknowledged by Romney’s spokesman this morning.“The NRA did not endorse in the 2002 campaign,” said spokesman
Kevin Madden, when asked about Romney’s comments. … ..
By the way, Romney was rated with a B from the NRA in that election. The Democrat got an A.
And since we’re talking about Mr. Romney, if you haven’t read Lawrence
O’Donnell’s piece over at HuffingtonPost yet you really should. It’s a very brave post by O’Donnell after he eviscerated Romney on the Mormon church’s race problem on the “Today” show:
I give you the words of the holy Book of Mormon: “And I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark and loathsome and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations.”
Brigham Young, the most revered president of the Mormon Church, who marched his people all the way to the Utah territory because he so vehemently hated the laws of the United States, taught that sex with black people would kill white people. Instantly.
Brigham Young: “Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so.”
It took the Mormons ten years after Martin Luther King was killed–ten years–to decide to allow black men to be priests. They did so only after the president of the Mormon Church said he had a conversation with God in 1978 in which God finally decided it was time to allow black priests. … ..
The video above is for my gun expert husband (also an ex-Mormon). Slick Mitt talking about hunting varmints cracks him up.
