Edwards Finally Discovers Obama

15 December 2007 5:03 pm by Taylor Marsh

How many times have I said it? If Edwards wants the nomination he
has to go through Obama
, to get to Clinton, who has been the frontrunnner from the start.

Meanwhile, Obama touts his –cough– experience, even though as chairman
of the Subcommittee on European Affairs for the Senate Foreign Relations committee
he hasn’t held
one single hearing
. He skipped the Kyl-Lieberman vote. And who exactly just
put together new Iraq legislation? It
wasn’t Mr. Obama
.

If John Edwards and his campaign, particularly Joe Trippi, would have understood what I did months and months ago, they would have realized that to get the nomination
they would have to target Obama first. Anyone who has
supported John Edwards should be angry. This is classic and right on point:

The John Edwards campaign has also been attacking in recent days Obama for
his lack of experience. "There’s a deep concern about his readiness to
be president," Joe Trippi, an advisor to Edwards, said Thursday. Citing
polling data on Obama — a poll data apparently from the Edwards campaign
— Trippi said, "A quarter of his own supporters think he’s not qualified
to be president."
MSNBC

Notice anything in the ad above? Edwards takes a line from Clinton. That the
Republicans aren’t going to give the White House to Democrats, which she has
been saying for months.

Seriously, Edwards and his team have run a pathetic campaign. That they’re
just now discovering Barack Obama is stunning.

Look for the DeMoines Register to endorse Edwards. The boys of the blogs have been teasing an Obama endorsement. There is no way the Iowa Register can endorse Obama and keep their crediblity. That would be the celebrification of Iowa. If it happens Iowa no longer means anything in politics. But they endorse Edwards something else could shift.

If Edwards had run a decent campaign
it might matter. Trippi’s friendship with Axelrod just might have cost Edwards the nomination.
