Romney Tanks in Iowa

Via Newsweek:

The most dramatic result to come out of the poll, which is based on telephone
interviews with 1,408 registered Iowa voters on Dec. 5 and 6, is Huckabee’s
emergence from the shadows of the GOP race into the front runner’s spot in
just two months. The ordained Southern Baptist minister now leads
Romney by a two-to-one margin, 39 percent to 17 percent, among likely GOP
caucus-goers.
In the last NEWSWEEK survey, conducted Sept. 26-27,
Huckabee polled a mere 6 percent to Romney’s 25 percent, which then led the
field. … ..

Barack Obama has gained some ground, moving to within a point of Hillary Clinton among all Democratic voters (29 percent vs. 30 percent), with John Edwards in third place at 21 percent. … ..

Huckabee was on Hannity’s radio show today talking about the Dumond scandal.
They’re freaked about it. The bottom line is that Huckabee has done his best,
but he cannot wiggle out of the push he made to release Dumond. The conversation
took a weird turn when Huckabee started touting his death penalty record. You
got have to love those compassionate Christian Republicans.

No surprising, however, is that Romney’s spokesperson wouldn’t say if atheists have a place in America. Like I said earlier today, he should never have given the speech.
