Has the Real Swiftboating Begun?

The general election is exactly one year away so people are picking their target and it's a blast to the past.

Former President Clinton brought it up yesterday, as he senses the slime about
to start. But what actually qualifies as swiftboating isn't a debate, which
is nothing close to what decorated veterans Max Cleland and John Kerry faced.
It's this piece of trash (h/t

:

In a new book alleging a campaign of slander and intimidation orchestrated
chiefly by Hillary Clinton, Kathleen Willey points a finger of suspicion at
the former first couple for the death of her husband, who was believed to
have killed himself.

Willey, who claims she was groped by President Clinton in the White House,
acknowledged in an interview with WND today that she stands by the speculation
she poses about her husband's demise in “Target: Caught in the Crosshairs
of Bill and Hillary Clinton,” set for release this week by World Ahead
Publishing, WND Books' partner.

Asked if she suspects her husband Ed, a lawyer and son of a prominent Virginia
lawmaker, was murdered, Willey replied, “Most definitely.”

“I'm having someone with a forensics background look at this, and I
intend to pursue this further, now that these questions have been raised,”
she told WND, pointing to alleged discrepancies in the autopsy report.

Does she believe the Clintons were involved?

“I do have suspicions,” Willey said, “yes.” … ..

New book details evidence of 'smear' campaign orchestrated by Hillary

Sean Hannity will be the first to gobble this one up, with the rest of the
wingnut crew not far behind.

Double-teaming, with great effort, is Mrs.
Tim Russert in “Vanity Fair,”
simultaneously gushing and whining
about the bygone days of great D.C. hostesses. Sally Quinn picks a target and
you'll never guess who it is.

Sally Quinn: In terms of entertaining being partisan, it started with Clinton.
The people who were seen as “hostesses” were people who had money
or were raising money. When the stuff about Clinton and women started
appearing, in the second term, things shut down. Everybody wanted to go hide
in a cave. For people willing to defend him, it became intolerable for them
to go out. … ..

… .. Sally Quinn: Since Hillary has been here in the Senate for the last
eight years, I think I've seen her twice. Otherwise, she is at fund-raisers.
She entertains constantly, but it is all political. It is people who work
for her or raise money for her.

Digby
is correct. Mrs. Tim Russert will not be ignored!

Hillary Clinton is a delicious target for the right, as well as disaffected Clinton fans of which Willey is one. But Kathleen Willey is obviously off her rocker, taking a page from the trash Rush (and the late Reverend Falwell) pushed in the 1990s about Bill Clinton being involved in murder, before the wingnuts started to dredge up Vince Foster fantasies. Sean Hannity did a Vince Foster redux during “Hannity's America” this year. He won't be able to resist the sludge Willey is shoveling.

But with the doyenne of Washington D.C. society claiming that Hillary Clinton dissed her, you've really got to wonder what Sally Quinn does all day. Seriously, with Mrs. Russert writing this drivel it's no wonder Tim has no respect for a female candidate who wants to be commander in chief.

But this stuff is exactly what Bill Clinton was talking about in the video above. If the
Clintons are in power their enemies will come out of the shadows. Swiftboating
will not be far behind and there will always be outlets to pick it up.
