Fred Thompson is Dangerous

This guy is not ready for what we face today, let alone being prepared to be commander in chief of the U.S. Armed Forces. The answer Thompson gave about Pakistan is jaw dropping in its unpreparedness and naked cluelessness.
MR. RUSSERT: Let me start with Pakistan. President Musharraf has declared
a state of emergency, suspended the constitution, closed down many television
networks. What would you, as president, be saying this morning?MR. THOMPSON: I’d be saying learn as much as you can about
the situation to all my people. And I know Secretary Rice is doing
that. We’ve got two competing serious considerations there. One is the
rule of law, which we’ve got to stand for, which he’s going against
right now. And the other is the fact that it’s one of the most potentially
dangerous situations in the world for us right now. He is an ally in, in a,
in a very sparsely populated place as far as allies are concerned. There’re
not many of them in that part of the world. Even parts of his own government
do not have our interests at heart. There are radical Muslim elements there.
There are terrorist elements there that are trying to, to apparently get control
of the government. I do not know exactly what Musharraf sees or thinks he
sees to cause him to do what he has done, but we need to understand that this
is a nuclear country. We could face a real nightmare scenario by seeing these
radical elements, or these terrorist sympathizers, take control of that government
and have that nuclear capability there on the border of, of Afghanistan when
we’ve got so many troops there.MR. RUSSERT: We have provided President Musharraf $10 billion in
American aid since 2001. Should we suspend that aid?MR. THOMPSON: Not now. … ..
God save us from presidential wanna bes who are not prepared to lead immediately.
Here’s what Joe Biden had to say when asked the same question on “Face
the Nation.”
SCHIEFFER: Well, let me just bring up what just moved on the Assoc. Press
wire out of Jerusalem. It says the Secretary of State Rice says that
the United States will review its aid to Pakistan.BIDEN: Well, it should review its aid to Pakistan. … .. … ..
Look, as–you know, this administration has a–has a– has a Musharraf policy,
not a Pakistani policy. It’s tied to Musharraf, and it’s also–its
hands are pretty well tied right now… ..(snip)
SCHIEFFER: … .. what would be the first thing you would do tomorrow?
BIDEN: The first thing I would do tomorrow is I would be on the phone
with Musharraf, making it clear to him that there’s a price to pay if he does
not rectify what he has just done. I’d be sitting down with my military and
saying, ‘Get us out, get this federalism going in Iraq, free up our forces.’
And I would be asking what I need to do in Afghanistan to have a backup.
There is no question that Democrats, especially Joe Biden, know what to do immediately
after a foreign policy crisis; especially one that has the potential to unravel the entire region.
It doesn’t matter if you’re talking Romney, Rudy or Fred Thompson, the Republicans
are out of their element and league with the dangers we face today. The above
exchanges are not only telling, but deadly if anyone gets seduced by Hollywood
Fred. He simply is out of his depth, but make no mistake about it, he is not the only one.
