In hot topics, I'll be talking films. If you haven't seen “American Gangster,” go now. It is a great film. It harkens back to the big, beautiful cinematic miracles of the 1970s. Ridley Scott has produced a masterpiece of inestimable proportions.
Then to Pakistan, which will be unraveling as you listen. By the way, tomorrow is another edition of national security Tuesday, with Pakistan on the front burner. From National Security Network, I'll be talking to Karl Inderfurth. You won't want to miss it.
The 2008 race is always on deck. Today Clinton reveals her energy plan, which calls for doing away with Yucca Mountain (another black helicopter crowd pleaser) completely, as well as no nuclear subsidies, while focusing on renewables. Edwards is taking some heat for yesterday's “This Week” appearance. Obama's Clarendon County Courthouse speech got my attention. He was in full preacher mode. While reading make sure you add a down home pulpit drawl.
“Now, I've heard some folks say, 'Yeah, he talks good. I like his wife. He's got some pretty children, but you know we're just not sure that America is ready for an African-American president,'” Obama told the crowd of about 800. 'You're hearing the same voices you heard 50 years ago. 'Maybe it's not time yet, maybe it's better to wait.' So I just want ya'all to be clear; I would not be running if I were not confident I was going to win.”
“I'm not running for vice president. I'm not running to be secretary of something or the other. I'm already a United States Senator. Everybody already knows me. I've already sold a lot of books. I don't need to run for president to get on television or the radio. I've been on Oprah. I'm running to be president of the United States of America,” he said to the roaring crowd.
Lots to talk about.
Hope you can join us.
