Good thing we’re around because the corporate hack pack just keeps getting worse. Headline of the day is compliments my friends over at TPM:

Warner Blindsides Webb With Toothless Version Of Troop Bill

Greg’s actual post has a different title, but the above is what’s screaming from the homepage. Truth is a beautiful thing. But not only does Warner blindside Webb, but McCain also proves he’s senile:

“Where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that the Congress decides how long people will spend on tours of duty and how long they will spend back in the United States? It’s blatantly unconstitutional,” McCain said. “The Constitution of the United States said Congress will declare wars and fund wars.” … ..

This is totally outrageous. Has McCain completely forgotten about the Uniform Code of Military Justice? You know, that little manual with all sorts of laws passed by Congress? Josh Marshall makes the same points as well. Republicans are now willing to state boldly that Mr. Bush is not president but instead is some sort of dictator lording over the military. I keep saying America isn’t Pakistan half jokingly, but it’s now clear that Republicans think Musharraf has a sweet deal they’d like to replicate here. Oh, and by the way, the Constitution also gives Congress the authority to fund a war or not. McCain needs to bone up on the Founders. He’s starting to sound like a modern day Musolini. The betrayal of trust continues.

–End Rant–

Lots to talk about.

Hope you can join me today.
