Clinton Responds to Trippi

18 September 2007 11:25 am by Taylor Marsh

Via Greg Sargent. Joe Trippi thought he’d raise the temperature a bit with an email attacking Clinton after the news of this fundraiser broke last week. Trippi’s email in part reads: “That no one in the Clinton campaign – including the candidate – found anything
wrong with holding this fundraiser is an indication of just how bad things have gotten in Washington – because there isn’t an American outside of Washington who would not be sickened by it. …”
Sargent posted the full email (so I don’t have to), and this is the statement from Phil Singer in response.

Increasingly negative attacks against other Democrats aren’t going to end the war, deliver universal health care or turn John Edwards’ flagging campaign around.

Oh, snap! Trippi is out of his league on this stuff. As Ben Smith notes, it could be that the Edwards team is doubling down on negativity betting that Iowa Democratic primary voters will eat it up. Edwards needs Iowa so badly he’s got nothing to lose. Trippi wants to push up Clinton’s negatives in Iowa. But it sounds desperate, especially when you hand team Clinton a softball they hit down your throat.

In other news, O.J. is everywhere, obviously, and he makes perfect fodder for hot news topics, as does the horrendous overreach by police on the taser incident.

People are also going through Hillary Clinton’s health care plan. Ian has a post up asking some questions about it.

Lots to talk about, including the Blackwater backlash.

Hope you can join me today.
