Wrigley Field is The Grand Slam of Ballparks

What a baseball field. The Cubbies won in the end (5-4, sorry you Phils fans),
but the whole night was simply spectacular. Just sitting in the stands at Wrigley
Field is something special
. It reminds me of all those wonderful years I
spent cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.

The night was picture perfect, warm, but with a breeze, with a jet black sky
that finally settled over the field.

The subway dropped us off at the ballpark. There were beers, yes. Brat for James, and peanuts for me.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it after we left, all the back to my hotel room to see if Barry
Bonds, well, you know, hit homer number, what is it now? How do we count it?
Sitting at Wrigley and thinking about what baseball used to mean to me, before
the strikes and the doping, I have only one thing to say. Hank
Aaron
’s record will never be beaten. At least not by some punk with a head
the size of a pig. No offense to pigs.

So, thanks Chicago. Thanks James, my good friend I finally met after all this
time exchanging emails, working together and combating the GOP jerks who swiftboat veterans. It was a very special evening for me.
