Positively Unpresidential

When I saw the photos of Mitt holding the sign bashing Clinton, there was only
one conclusion. But
via TPM
, we get Slick Mitt’s spokesman just making stuff up.

“The governor stopped briefly for a picture with a supporter who just
happened to be holding their own sign with an alliterative play on words,”
Madden said, via e-mail. “I don’t think it was equating or comparing
anyone.”

Just happen to be holding a sign that talks about Osama, Obama *and* Clinton?

This is really the trifecta of Republican smear tactics. It’s not often we
get the top two Democratic presidential candidates and Osama all in one sign.
But of course, the Republicans will get a pass for such hateful and reprehensible
actions, as they also laugh it off.

Imagine if a Democrat was seen with a sign like the one Mitt is actually holding. Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly would go wild.

Republicans are continually held to a different standard than Democrats. But to be clear, Romney just illustrated why he’s the most immoral, abjectly opportunistic, unethical candidate in the race. He will do even more than most to get elected. Not only will he change whatever position he has in order to court votes. Slick Mitt will also blithely take part in the smearing of patriotic Americans who have given their lives to this country in service in order to join other un-American Republicans who think it’s funny to compare a murdering thug to fellow citizens. This is the modern day Republican party. Laugh all you want, but it’s serious stuff. It’s also reprehensible. But considering the lack of character of Mitt Romney and many of his Republican supporters, this picture didn’t surprise me. It’s typical from Republicans today.

I’m ashamed that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have to be subjected to this stuff. It’s the worse kind of political boosterism there is in politics today. Unfortunately, Republicans and their wingnut friends condone it, so we’re likely to se a lot more of it.
