It’s nice to have friends in robes.

It’s not a small thing that the judge who just dismissed the Plame case is the same one who dismissed the lawsuit over Cheney’s energy task force. Here’s the decision.

What the Bush administration did to Valerie Plame, including the chill sent through the CIA, was beyond the pale; the targeting of Joseph Wilson a message to all private citizens daring to push back against the falsehoods we were fed. It was a gallant fight to engage.

:

A federal judge dismissed former CIA operative Valerie Plame’s lawsuit against
members of the Bush administration Thursday, eliminating one of the last courtroom
remnants of the leak scandal.

Plame, the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, had accused Vice President
Dick Cheney and others of conspiring to leak her identity in 2003. Plame said
that violated her privacy rights and was illegal retribution for her husband’s
criticism of the administration.

U.S. District Judge John D. Bates dismissed the case on jurisdictional grounds
and said he would not express an opinion on the constitutional arguments.
Bates dismissed the case against all defendants: Cheney, White House political
adviser Karl Rove, former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby
and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. … ..

For a very long time the Wilsons
made many people in the Bush administration sweat. We will never forget what they did for this country, but most especially for their efforts to get the truth out about the lies Mr. Bush and his people told to take us into war. Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson are both heros. Nothing can change that fact. Not even one of the Administration’s judicial friends.

UPDATE: Melanie Sloan, the Wilsons’ attorney, responds to decision. Sounds like an appeal is coming to me.
