Wingnut Cleavage Attack

Believe it or not, the “1/2 Hour Comedy Hour” is still in business. Watching it last night, Rush came on camera sipping a drink. The first bathing suit babe was his attorney general, there to freshen up his drink. The second bathing suit babe, having a similarly impressive title, was there to hand him a cigar. Then president Rush sat down, both babes beside him, slurping his drink and sucking on his cigar. The women stood and smiled. This may be comedy, but it is also how Republicans think of women, especially those in power. They give them symbolic jobs to look good, but the way they treat them says something completely different.
When the non event JFK threat occurred, I
reported it exactly right. But one wingnut blogger, “editor” and
former Iraq war imbed, Jules
Crittenden, took exception, obviously because the details were just too
much for him to handle. This blog blurb of his is priceless, complete with Rush style sexism woven in to
his stupidity.
Not a major concern, however, because terrorism no longer exists. A busted
terror plot is one that never was a threat. At least, that’s what I’m
getting for Taylor Marsh’s “non event.” Marsh, site notable
mainly for an archived cleavage shot, is a fan of John Edwards’ “What
war on terror?” school of thought. TPM also reckons blowing stuff up
at JFK is not that big a deal. … ..
The real issue is that my analysis was right; something that makes these wingnut sexists go limp and turns the image they covet into a threat.
I guess Jules has trouble with good looking women talking above his head about
things he doesn’t understand. His sexism
is everywhere. So is his
ignorance: “Since Memorial Day last year, we’ve seen Anbar
turn, we’ve seen Sunni-Shiite reconciliation become popular enough that
Moqtada al-Sadr is now trying to get in front of it. We’ve seen businesses
reopen and people return to their homes in Baghdad. We’ve seen Shiite
militias aggressively engaged and Sunni insurgents on the run.” Jules
needs to spend more time in reality and less time trolling for cleavage shots.
Maybe he needs to be monitored by his wife.
Or maybe the wingnuts should just pay more attention to our generals.
General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the National
Press Club on Monday that he had “objected to the use of the term ‘war
on terrorism’ before, because if you call it a war, then you think of people
in uniform as being the solution.”He said the threat instead should be defined as violent extremism, with the
recognition that “terror is the method they use.”
Or perhaps the wingnuts should listen to Edwards explain why Bush’s GWOT is actually hurting this country a lot, though I understand fearmongering is the only thing they’ve got. Understanding also that to dislodge the “global war on terror” talking point is not only going to take time, but policies that actually fight our enemies without handing them a tool by which they can attack us.
Unfortunately, sexist males like Crittenden are all talk, with little bravery of their own: “Of course, the way al-Qaeda works, wannabe is all you gotta be.” Devastating analysis, isn’t it? These boys are afraid of their own shadows. James Webb or Joe Sestak they are not.
Provocative clothing always brings out the Neanderthal in men, though most today can control themselves. Some think women should never dress provocatively or wear a low cut top. How are we to be taken seriously if we dress sexy? Seriously, what century is this anyway? In the 21st century, women should be able to wear anything we want while talking substance, especially when we’re right. To imply that having cleavage precludes intelligence on an issue is not only pre 1960’s thinking, it shows how threatened Republican men still are when women talk about issues traditionally reserved only for them, i.e. military, terrorism, war and foreign policy, unless, of course, it’s Ann Coulter. No wonder the likes of Rush, Sean and Dick Morris freak out over Hillary. I’ve gotten this type of treatment for years. Democrats long ago got past this point. Mysoginistic Republicans like Rush and Crittenden and their clan obviously have not. However, I’m not going to wear a burka so these Neanderthal sexists on the right will be able to keep their minds on their work.
