Murtha and the Draft

This is exactly right. I’ve been talking about it a lot lately.
“Our military has done a tremendous job with what has been asked of
them. They have juggled and balanced with what they have, but what they have
is not enough. The president asks the impossible and the burden continues
to fall on the very few. The pressure must be taken off the current force
and their families who have already sacrificed so much. If the President insists
on continuing the current operational tempo and policy, then he should call
for a military draft. That is the responsible thing to do.”
Republicans intent on the current course of escalation have a decision to make.
Continue the escalation, break the army or institute a draft.
It’s not where we are right now, but it’s where we’re headed.
Democrats have already made our decision. Redeploy from Iraq and stop the need
for a draft.
