Fox Expects Edwards \’Sympathy Surge\’

Cameron on Edwards \”sympathy surge\”

You knew it was going to start, right?

First would come the cynics.

But when I heard Bush\’s boy Brit lead off with the line, paraphrasing here,
Edwards is continuing his presidential campaign regardless of the fact his
wife has bone cancer
, I knew the report that followed would undoubtedly
be a Fox \”News\” classic. I also knew it would solidify the Fox
\”News\” is shameless
credentials. However, the reality was worse.

Carl Cameron is a poor excuse for a journalist, which he proved again today.
Get ready for the Edwards \”sympathy surge,\” or \”surge of sympathy,\” hissed Cameron in another report, tying the quote to Democrats. But he
also made sure to include into his first piece John McCain\’s skin cancer and Rudy\’s
prostate cancer, too. Shorter: don\’t forget our guys have cancer, too.

You\’d think on a day like today, when John and Elizabeth Edwards come out with
such grace and courage
, Fox \”News\” could manage to be magnanimous.
One day, that\’s all we\’re asking. But not even a life threatening disease can
make Carl Cameron step away from his political pimping for the president and
his party. What a tiny, little, itsy bitsy man Cameron is.

As managing editor of Fox \”News,\” Brit Hume should haul Cameron into
his office and demand him apologize to the Edwards. But we all know he won\’t. Now we know that Fox is not only a Republican tool, but also is an organization with people in charge who lack compassion, grace, humanity and every other word that connotes
the lack of feelings for other human beings who are experiencing yet another
crisis in their lives. Cameron is a disgrace. Hume took a moment during the discussion to acknowledge Elizabeth Edwards, but then presided over a \”sympathy surge\” discussion, which was truly despicable. Fox \”News\” has no shame or heart, but also lacks the humanity required of great news organizations.
