The Magic Dick Cheney Visit

What are these guys smoking?

The reported arrest of at least one top Taliban leader in Quetta, Pakistan
may be the first sign that Vice President Dick Cheney\’s trip there this week
worked.

Pakistani officials identified one of the men as Mullah Obaidullah Akhund,
considered the third in command of the Taliban.

The arrest reportedly came only hours after Vice President Cheney left Pakistan,
after confronting President Pervez Musharraf with \”compelling evidence\”
of the resurgence of the Taliban and al Qaeda in Pakistan.

(snip)

It was the first time Pakistan had arrested a senior leader of the Islamist
militia since it was driven from power in Afghanistan in 2001, and thousands
of its fighters fled into Pakistan. … ..

Major
Taliban Leader Arrested; Cheney Pakistan Trip Credited

Okay, now let\’s try this instead.

If all of a sudden…

Immediately after Dick Cheney\’s visit…

Mr. Musharaff pulls a bad guy out of his hat.

Just maybe — and we\’re just speculating here — just maybe

The wily president of Pakistan knew where this guy was all along.

Ya think?

Sheesh. The corporate hack pack will fall for anything, especially
when it comes to Dick Cheney.

Yo, people at ABC: Brian (as in Brian Ross), babe; Martha (as in Martha Raddatz), come on, get a clue. You\’ve just been had.

But let\’s face it. This is the problem with all of the coverage on Pakistan and Musharaff.

Because of Bush\’s ineptitude, we\’re so desperate that we have to practically stage put together some capture to make the Administration look like they can do anything without falling all over themselves. But really, we\’re supposed to believe that Cheney shows up and all of a sudden Musharaff\’s people find Mullah Obaidullah Akhund? Aha! We know where he is! Eureka!

Give. Me. A. Break.

But if you\’re one of the poeple who think there is anything Musharaff doesn\’t know about where he rules, though he will not deliver on it unless pushed or visited, or anyone he or his ISI cannot find if necessary, then you must be as gullible as ABC News and the rest of the corporate hack pack.

Again I say, forget Iran, my friends. Look to Pakistan for the dangers, though it will take a lot more than magic visits from Mr. Cheney to get us out of the coming storm there.
