McCain Hires Racist

In case McCain\’s upstaging of Mitt Romney in Florida recently didn\’t send the
message, let\’s amp up the volume.

What better way to telegraph to other GOP hopefuls that Senator John McCain
is not only going to make a run for the presidency, but he\’s going to obliterate
everyone in his path to make sure he gets the nomination. Move over frontrunner
status, because McCain is going for his own South Carolina strategy, hoping
to mimick Bush all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) continues to recruit top GOP political operatives
in expectation of a presidential run. According to a source close to the McCain
operation, the candidate has lined up Terry Nelson to serve
as campaign manager (if a formal bid is announced), and Republican National
Committee Communications Director Brian Jones has committed to lead the press
effort for a national bid.

McCain
Continues to Win Over Bush Insiders

If you don\’t remember Terry Nelson from the 2006 midterm elections, he\’s the
one that hired the notorious Scott
Howell
to swiftboat
Harold Ford, Jr.
in Tennessee. You remember now, right? It was the pairing
of Nelson with Howell that produced those race baiting ads against Ford. As
an aside, Howell also worked for Macaca Allen. Nelson took a hit in the pocketbook
for it, however, when his other stellar client, Wal-Mart, fired
him
after complaints.

The ad had no direct connection with Wal-Mart, but the reaction by civil
rights activist Jesse Jackson and other critics — and the company\’s
reaction — underscored the extent to which even the world\’s largest
retailer can feel compelled to respond to political pressure.

Nelson is in charge of an independent political unit, financed by the Republican
National Committee, that recently aired the commercial in a tight Senate race
between Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr. and Republican Bob Corker, the former
mayor of Chattanooga.

I guess McCain\’s lesson after watching Bush all these years is to go dirty
early and often.

Senator Obama had better hold on.
