Did Pelosi Lose this One? … … Yes. –updated–

VIDEO: Democrats stand united.

Lester Holt of MSNBC just reported this one.

Two independent sources say Rep. John Murtha's (D-PA) campaign conceded that
they will likely fall short.

Dems have been caucusing in the Cannon Caucus Room for a little more than
an hour and are expected to announce their new leadership team late this a.m.
or early this afternoon. [REID WILSON]

Hotline

Any way you cut it, if Pelosi loses the fight to get Murtha as majority leader it's not a good start for her.

UPDATE II (8:59 a.m.): Hoyer trounced Murtha, 149 – 86. Here are the House leaders.

Nominee for Speaker: Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

Majority Leader: Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD)

Majority Whip: Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC)

Caucus Chair: Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL)

Vice-Caucus Chair: Rep. John Larson (D-CT)

UPDATE (8:05 a.m.): Chip Reed of NBC News says one of “Murtha's deputies” called him to say that Murtha is not withdrawing and that they absolutely believe they have the votes to prevail. I want Murtha's leadership out of the House on Iraq, but we needed this House noise like we need escalation in Iraq. A nasty war going wrong brings out the worst in everyone but our soldiers.
