GO CARDINALS

WAY TO GO REYES!
Wow.
Cards, 7 to 2

I grew up watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Listening to Jack Buck and Harry Caray was my life back in the day; when I truly got turned on to radio.

I'd sit in the bleachers, keep score every game, never miss a one of them. To say I was a big fan is an understatement.

That was when baseball was the real deal and the players were people like Curt Flood, Lou Brock, the cantankerous Bob Gibson, with Julian Javier, well, I could go on and on.

I saw Stan the Man Musial's last game. In fact, my family decided to leave before the game was over. I was crying my eyes out and so upset, screaming in the car as we listened to the game. As I remember it, Stan hit it out of the park. Unfortunately, we weren't there to see it because my mom and dad had given up. I never did give up on the Cards, still haven't, though my taste for baseball long ago went sour.

I blame the new breed of greed that now takes the field. But that's a whole 'nother subject.

Anyway, I know everyone is picking the Tigers, even Keith Olbermann, but this is sentimental for me. I hope they win. My big brother would love it and so would I.

GO CARDS. Give 'em a run for their money. With the St. Louis fans behind 'em, anything is possible.
