Rush has a new obsession. Blogs.

Libertarians and wingnut blogs are getting under the skin of the Republican's head bloviator. Welcome to
push back, baby.

It started here with Glenn Reynolds.

October 14, 2006

A GOP PRE-MORTEM: So is it over for the GOP majorities in
Congress? It's still too early to say, I guess, but when even John Hinderaker
is sounding extremely gloomy that's certainly the way to bet.

So I want to stress, for the edification of any Republican leaders who might
pay attention, that this is the result of a series of unforced errors on their
part. Following is a (partial) list:

Instapundit (emphasis
added)

The thing that touched Limbaugh off was the word “pre-mortem.” He
went off on it yet again today. (By the way, this op-ed helped set him off.)

This blogger picked
it up and get a load of the comments.

Rush Limbaugh represents everything that is wrong with the Republican Party.
He doesn't ever check his sources, makes insanely stupid claims, and just
blasts anyone that doesn't give a completely partial view toward whatever
he believes. I have tried to give the man second, third, fourth, etc. chances,
but everytime he proved that he is an idiotic blowhard. I can't understand
why anyone would ever listen to him.

Another blogger wrote this:
Limbaugh is absolutely losing it again.

Today, Instapundit chimes in again, with one view from a reader and Rush listener.

Sure you're aware limbaugh is mentioning Instapundit again today. I am a
many times daily Instapundit Reader and a 14 year Limbaugh listener. Here's
my take.

Limbaugh is not singling you out. He is merely using the term “pre-mortem”
as a lightning rod or example of the things he's hearing in the blogosphere
that bother him.

His points are valid, as are yours

He's hitting on the issue for a third day which is much his style.

Often topics and themes he uses last days and weeks

I believe he genuinely would like you to respond in kind. I also believe
a typically reasoned Instapundit response to some of Limbaugh's comments would
continue what I feel is a healthy, interesting debate.

He does not read you regularly and claims to only have a peripheral knowledge
of Instapundit.

LIMBAUGH IS
AT IT AGAIN
– Instapundit

This is popcorn and beer radio, people. The natives are getting restless and
Rush is their target. Nothing like a good radio – blog brawl in the middle of
a Republican collapse to wet the appetites of Democrats even more.

Don't stop now, boys, it's just starting to get interesting.

UPDATE (4:20 p.m.): Meant to put this up earlier, but the day got away from me. This is the op-ed that got Rush going today, along with Instapundit's “pre-mortem” from earlier.

With liberals like New York’s Charlie Rangel in line to head important House committees like the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, some investors are starting to worry about tax increases on the rich and business bashing-legislation. Needless to say, Republicans are doing what they can to stoke such fears.

As a Republican, I have a message for those fearful of Democratic control: don’t worry. Nothing dreadful is going to happen. Liberals have much less to gain than they believe.

(snip)

In short, there is really no reason for conservatives, businessmen or investors to worry particularly about a Democratic victory in November. Congress will be on automatic pilot for the next two years regardless of which party is in control.
