Cracking On Torture

Cracking On Torture
guest post by Ed Encho

‘Rebel’ Senator John McCain has once again caved in to vanity and ambition over honor and dignity and Karl Rove didn’t even have to resort to water boarding to get him to crack this time. The dog and pony show of the renegade Republicans is now over and the Geneva Conventions are still subject to the whims of George W. Bush and his neocon puppeteers

As should be evident to all who have watched his act over time, McCain is a phony and as loathe as I am to admit it even a dude ranch cowboy like George Felix Allen has more scruples than ‘Hanoi John’. McCain is a man who despite slanderous, racist attacks on his family by Rove and his cronies in the Religious Right who engaged in orchestrated smear attacks to drag them through South Carolina pigshit lagoons back in 2000 continues to obediently roll over in order to have his belly scratched by his master the emperor.

What really sucks is that I myself have been too often hornswoggled by McCain's medicine show theatrics along with many other free thinking independents and once again the man has betrayed us and our shared American ideals as well. Arizona John McCain has no integrity whatsoever. He is a self-serving charlatan of a whore who is all too emblematic of the current crop of hucksters seeking the 2008 GOP nomination which will likely come with the contingency clause of Jeb Bush as a running mate. Hell, at least being a smarmy pandering prick is a hereditary trait to second generation scoundrels the likes of Bill Frist and George Felix Allen who unlike McCain don't have to work very hard at being reprobates.

While he has shamelessly milked this all too familiary storyline, former POW John McCain may have never broken under torture during his agonizing stay at the Hanoi Hilton but then maybe Charlie never realized that capitulation and propagandizing could be easier obtained by simply pushing the right buttons than through repeated beatings and proddings with the end of a pungi stick. Caving in under repeated barbaric torture by the soldiers of Ho Chi Minh could be understood but caving in to pressure to publicly kiss the ass of a rat bastard like George W. Bush or for that matter Jerry Falwell is tantamount to an act of treason by a man who increasingly appears to have more in common with the 'Manchurian Candidate' that certain propagandists on Rove's payroll portray him as with each legislative stageshow.

It turns out that the Admiral’s son who could have gotten an express trip out of Nam had he just played ball instead of trying to be a real American hero decades ago now has the same integrity as Joe Shit The Ragman who sang like a canary, made propaganda films and anti American statements for Ho Chi Mihn and avoided spending years of his life getting the shit beaten out of him instead of being a pig-headed sack of shit like McCain. Democrat John Kerry was eviscerated by well financed elements of the extremist Republican party over supposedly using his Vietnam era service to curry favor by presenting manufactured falsehoods over his wartime record for political gain but McCain is given a free pass for invoking and pandering over his own personal hell in the monstrously deceiptful and divisive cluster-fuck that was Vietnam; a war incidentally where Dick Cheney took multiple draft deferments to avoid and George W. Bush had his daddy bail him out of only to later dishoner the National Guard by failing to even bother showing up.

Any way you slice this loaf of crap the Bush-Rove-Cheney Axis of Evil wins again on torture while McCain stays in the running for the 2008 GOP nod (until Rove and his minions imbed another hatchet between his shoulder blades) and the disgraceful Vichy DLC jellyfish continue to rack up weasel points in the run up to the November election and the inevitable flaming bag of dogshit that they will be holding come Wednesday morning November 8th after Karl Rove springs his promised October Surprise.

I will be watching news from Pakistan very carefully in the coming weeks in the event that the bogeyman (or a ringer) is killed in a similar matter as the dreaded Zarqawi but given Rove’s cunning and the ineptitude of Rahm Emanuel and the rest of the arrogant stooges who unfortunately are calling the shots it could be anything that pulls George W. Bush’s ratings out of the crapper for the few weeks necessary to allow the one party fascist Republican government to remain intact and re-deploy for a siege against Social Security and whatever tattered remnants remain of the constitution during Bush’s last two years where what is a normal lame duck will be transformed into a vengeful bird of prey with another ‘mandate’ and nothing to lose. Hell, who knows, an emboldened and energized Republican Congress could even successfully repeal the 22nd Amendment extending Bush’s reign for perpetuity.

And so the Washington Post’s luminary sage David S. Broder is wrong once again. His platitudes over fantasies of a great centrist revolt
are already trite falsehoods a scant one day after they were originally delivered. His odious paean to the birth of what he so pompously labeled “the independence movement” never made it out of the maternity ward.

According to Broder:

“American politics reached a critical turn last week. The revolt of several Republican senators against President Bush's insistence on a free hand in treating terrorist detainees signaled the emergence of an independent force in elections and government.”

Well Mr. Broder, ‘Maverick’ McCain caved in again and the ‘Straight Talk Express’ is safely back enroute to Palookaville. Not that anybody should have expected any different from the shameless panderer from the desert, he if nothing else is consistent and if not sucking up to radical clerics like Falwell he is sitting up in front of the emperor’s throne begging for a biscuit which the mongrel is all too eager to fetch for his masters.

And as far as Mr. Broder's snide comment about “the vituperative, foul-mouthed bloggers on the left” I take offense for the simple reason that if people like him did their fucking jobs in in the first place in ensuring that power be held accountable the blogs would not have to serve as the new media. Mr. Broder himself is partially responsible for all of us fucking foul-mouthed bloggers on the left because when the established press is co-opted by the establishment to serve as cheerleaders somebody has to get information out. However since he and his colleagues are secure in their ivory towers and in the knowledge that they will be permanent fixtures on the cocktail party circuit they no longer have to bother with such trivialities as journalistic ethics or for that matter the duty of a free press in ensuring that democracy exists for all as espoused by the first amendment of that “god damned piece of paper” that the Bush adminstration holds in such disdain.

It will be interesting to see the coming spin on the triumph of the “independence movement” and how their steadfast determination to protect the integrity of the Geneva Conventions as well as the honor of the United States so abysmally failed to check the actions of a rogue administration, it’s one party rubber stamp congress and the corrupt and ineffective ‘opposition’ that serve as it’s enablers….whoops, I nearly forgot to add the lapdog mainstream media and sycophantic asses in the establishment press along with the enablers. I certainly wouldn’t want to deny giving credit where it is due.

Soon though there will be more important things to cover, like ensuring that the first words of Suri Cruise are captured so that they may be enshrined for the sake of posterity and the adoration of future generations as a testament to the greatness of freedom and all that is right in post 9/11 America.

Oh, another great achievement: torture is up in Iraq!

It’s too bad that there isn’t a futures market on brutality, maybe the Bush-Rove-Cheney junta can bring back Admiral John Poindexter and his nutjob DARPA ideas because I would certainly think that such a thing would be very lucrative when it comes to the speculative activity that has so come to dominate our national economy, especially when the definition of what is a ‘terrorist’ is expanded to include domestic political enemies. There could be fortunes to be made.

Men like McCain and Broder need not worry though, they will never be on any such lists.
