Live Radio Preview for Today –updated–

Dick Cheney lawyers
up
. Interesting, but nothing tops the latest George
Allen redux
. The comments are hilarious.

We get this via Lambert
Strether

“This fellow over here with the yellow shirt – Macaca or whatever
his name is [Sidarth] – he’s with my opponent,” Allen said Friday.
“Let’s give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America and the
real world of Virginia.”

Now, the walkback! Monday:

[Allen] said Monday that “Macaca” was a play on “Mohawk,”
a nickname given to Sidarth by the Allen campaign because of his hairstyle.

Well, does “Mohawk” sound like “Macaca” to you? If
this is a joke, shouldn’t somebody be able to give the punchline?

Tuesday:

In Tuesday’s statement, Allen said he “made up a nickname
for the cameraman, which was in no way intended to be racially derogatory.
Any insinuations to the contrary are completely false.”

Rich Lowry of the National Review has yet another explanation…

I didn't believe that he had gone to using race in the political arena,\”
he said.

Rich Lowry, editor of the conservative National Review, wrote on the magazine's
Web site Tuesday that he did not think Allen was \”trying to speak a coded
racist language.\” But Lowry said Allen showed he \”has a mean streak.\”

Great fodder for radio, and we haven't even gotten to Dick Morris dishing about
Hillary Clinton yet. Then there's the news about Jon-Benet's killer allegedly being caught.

Taylor Marsh Live, but still in previews, will be on the air at 4:15 p.m.
today.

UPDATE (7:30 p.m.): One of these nights I'm going to offer the radio show in archive form so you can listen, in case you can't hear it live. Audio levels were still not quite right for that today, but we're getting there. Right now, there's a dip in audio levels when I go to clips, which we're trying to fix. I'll let you know when it is.
