Take Back America
(posted from Washington, D.C., 8:18 a.m. eastern time)

John Edwards
30% of Iowans polled said they would vote for the former North Carolina senator and ‘04 vice presidential candidate.

It's raining this morning in Washington, D.C., which means the weather is beautiful.
West coasters don't get this kind of weather in June very often. This city is
spectacular. As for my hotel, it opened as a luxury apartment building back
in 1906. The architecture is a real treat for me, as I am by way of being an
architecture rat; have been my whole life. It's one of the Historic Hotels of
America, an exclusive group within the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Again, a real treat to be here.

Just a couple of things of political importance before I head over to the conference
where I hope to do some blogging today.

John
Murtha
is planning to run for the majority position when we take
back the House. This is a very good development.

In a stunner, at least for me, Edwards just polled
#1
in the new Iowa poll, Clinton is second, with Kerry a \”distant\”
third.

Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina leads a list of potential
Democratic presidential candidates while Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack holds fourth
place, trailing Edwards by 20 points in an early test of support among likely
Iowa caucus participants.

A new Iowa Poll conducted for The Des Moines Register shows that Edwards,
the runner-up in the Iowa Democratic caucuses two years ago and a frequent
visitor to the state since then, is the choice of 30 percent of Iowans who
say they are likely to take part in the January 2008 caucuses.

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York follows on Edwards' heels with 26 percent
in the Iowa Poll.

Vilsack
fourth in presidential poll

But the wingnuts are still after John Kerry, targeting
yet another veteran
, for a second time. But he's not alone today. They're also gunning for Gore.

When I got into the cab yesterday, on the way to my hotel, this
article
was sitting on the seat. Read it when you get the chance.

Oh, and we're having quite a conversation about George
Soros
if you want to join in.

I'll check in later.
