Ann Coulter IS the Republican Party

Ann Coulter IS the Republican Party
(cross-posted at firedoglake)

UPDATE: Senator Clinton goes after Coulter.

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton lashed out at Ann Coulter for a “vicious, mean-spirited attack” on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the right-wing television pundit described as “self-obsessed” and enjoying their husbands' deaths.

(snip)

… “Perhaps her book should have been called 'Heartless,'” the senator said. “I know a lot of the widows and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. They never wanted to be a member of a group that is defined by the tragedy of what happened.”

The New York Democrat and former first lady said she found it “unimaginable that anyone in the public eye could launch a vicious, mean-spirited attack on people whom I've known over the last four and a half years to be concerned deeply about the safety and security of our country.”

Senator Clinton goes after Coulter.

The 9/11 advocates, otherwise known by Ann “…never seen people
enjoying their husband’s death so much”
Coulter as millionaire
broads
have spoken. It's in
your face
, from the Jersey wives.

So see the GOP try to run. But they can't hide from their base. They need them.
It's the only way they can win.

A quick update from my FDL post. While I was out on business, I tuned into Hannity to hear him with Ann Coulter. Ken doll Sean is hosting Ann at a book store, while offering her a lot of free air time to publicize her book. She'll also be up front and center tonight on The Hannity Show. She's getting a lot of help and the Republicans welcome it, because they need it. Also, Hannity has invited the Jersey widows on to debate Coulter, who has accepted the challenge. We'll see if that one pans out, but I'd love to see Kristin Breitweiser against Coulter. Must see TV for sure.

Some doubted why I put so much focus on Ann Coulter yesterday. I mean, really,
she's such a wingnut wacko, right? Well, the Republicans don't like to claim
her, but she is their base, baby. The anti immigrant, anti gay, anti women,
anti everything contingent of the voting Republican Party. The crowd
that listens to hack radio day in and day out. The ones who love Laura Ingraham,
the woman who told journalists to get off their balconies in Iraq and report
the war. Mind you, since the CBS crew's death and injuries recently, Iraq is
now the most dangerous war in history for journalists.

The base just loves little Ann. They embrace her, stand by her and defend her.
Read it and see the Republican Party. Ann Coulter is that face.

While considerable attention focuses on Ann Coulter's more superficial charms,
from a conservative perspective Ann's real beauty is her absolute refusal
to buy into liberal logic, no matter how pervasive. That independence of mind
was on display this morning during her 'Today' interview with Matt Lauer.
Ann was on to tout her new book, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, released
today on . . . 6/6/6 – sign of the devil and all that. …

Coulter Won't Buy Into Lauer's
Liberal Logic

Yep, NewsBusters loves her. Commenter “allanf” says: Truly a
case of beauty vs. brains. Let's call this one “the parrot and the Lady”.
Here's more:

American Infidel: “I wonder if Lauer is still crawled up in the
fetal position after the a** whoopin he just got from Ann?
We've finally
given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they don't want to fight
it. They would, except it would put them on the same side as the United States.
– Ann Coulter

Sam: I love Ann Coulter. A little brash at times but always witty and
thought provoking.

Chris Norman: Why, oh, why, can't all conservatives handle interviews
with the MSM along the lines of Ms. Coulter? Why do they always seem to fall
into the liberal reporters' traps, let them frame the issue, and go on the
defensive? Perhaps all conservative/Republican politicians should be forced
to go to a media boot camp run by Ms. Coulter.

Truth Missile: when Conservatives tell the truth the MSM (including Google)
cries “hate-speech!”, when Liberals tell the truth… I mean if
they ever told the truth… well, if and when a Liberal ever tells the truth
we'll figure out what the MSM lapdogs call it.

OutsidetheBeltway
offers more from the wingnut base.

Patrick: I have a strong affection for Ms. Coulter, probably because
she is a lot like myself. She speaks her mind and really doesn’t care
who gets trampled in the process. I admire her for being able to do so with
more wit and sophistication than myself. And she is a smoker from what I hear.
My kind of woman!

Tri: I’m a conservative and I’m not against Ms. Coulter’s
interview like many suggest we conservatives are. She hit the nail on the
head. The left use these women as a mouthpiece because they think anyone that
disagrees with them will look insensitive. To hell with their arguments.

Zelsdorf: The libs like to talk about speaking truth to power. That is
what Ann does. The power of the media. To match wits with Ann, they need something
of a larger caliber than Matt Lauer. James I am beggining to think you an
apologist for the left. Why is that? There is nothing but truth in what she
said about those particular 9/11 wives. Why is calling the President a liar
acceptable speech, but telling the truth about those who oppose him is not.

There's nothing the Republicans can do, because as is illustrated on the right-wing
blogs today, Ann Coulter IS the Republican Party. If they diss their voters,
the ones who revel in all things Ann Coulter, their won't be anyone at the polls
in November.

Mom and dad, wake up and see today's Republican Party. It's Ann Coulter. It's
enough to make a moderate Republican vote
Democratic
.
