“War on Terror” Turned on Gays

GOP Fear Factor

This week, we're getting treated to a morality lesson from the party that brought
us pedophiles,
perverts,
hookergate,
and a Senate majority leader under investigation, after having just been fined
$11,000 for campaign chicanery. Republicans aren't just weak and ineffectual, with no ideas, but they're desperate. They have nothing
else to turn to but their old standards. Use 'em while they work. We are watching
the last gasp of the Grand
Old Party of the Past
, because people under 40 could care less about who
marries who. Compared to Iraq, nuclear proliferation and global warming it just
doesn't add up. But being taught this lesson by Republicans? Puh-leaze.

Rudy Giuliani
has been married multiple times.

Newt Gingrich did worse
by divorcing his wife while she was recovering from cancer so he could marry
his mistress: “She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife
of the President. And besides, she has cancer.”
Mother
Jones
has the details.

Then there's Rush Limbaugh, who just got divorced for the third time, after
being arrested and having his mug shot for Hillbilly high splashed across the world.

Since the amendment will never make it out of the Senate, David
Dreier
and Mark
Foley
are safe from further hypocrisy.

Oh, and let's not forget Dr. Hager. Bush's FDA man who sodomized his wife while
she was asleep
.

Puts the “Alliance for Marriage” in a whole different context, now
doesn't it?

Watching Matt Daniels of the Alliance
for Marriage
today on C-SPAN, also known as the blissfully ignorant and
proud of it coalition, I got the distinct impression that he's never read a
sociological study on marriage in his adult life. He waxed poetic about growing
up raised by a single mom, without a father, decrying what happens when a child
doesn't have a father in the family.

This is just down right loony, with the leader of the loons Senator Allard
from Colorado. Never has one man been more clueless about sociology, rattling
off some weird phantom studies that purport to show all sorts of bad things
happening to kids raised by the likes of Rosie O'Donnell.

The morality morons leading the Alliance for Marriage goose step want us to
believe that the disintegration of the family is due to men choosing men over
women and vice versa.

Fifty percent of heterosexual marriages end up in divorce. The number of single
people choosing the lifestyle over marriage has increased dramatically over
the last 20 years, due to women being able to choose a different lifestyle because
we can support ourselves financially. I spent years investigating and researching marriage and
sexuality talking to thousands of people to find out what modern men and women
want from relationships and marriage, including a stint at the LA Weekly. “Relationship consultant” was my actual title. I have compiled loads of anecdotal evidence over many years. So what is causing heterosexual marriages
to break up? I guarantee you it isn't because men are choosing men.

The two biggest reasons for divorce and single families are money and sex,
sex and money, pick your priority preference. The husband sneaking out to meet
with his gay lover is not. The wife sneaking out to meet her gay lover isn't
either. Sure, some gay people try to exist in the charade of a heterosexual
marriage, but it usually ends in disaster, well beyond adultery. Bottom line,
divorce between heterosexual people is the reason for the decline in marriage.
Gay people have nothing to do with it, so banning gay marriage isn't going to
solve our single parent family problems.

The “war on gays” is similar to the “war on terror.” Neither
works, but it makes the zealots feel like they're doing something even if they're
not.
